WARNING:  Kilty is in a foul mood after playing Kruger Nightengale to Woobly today.  He's really pissed Woobly splattered his bowling shoes.  I told him he could wear his slippers if he'd prefer.

Chuckle How is Woobly?

Woobly's lucky ~ the worst he's got was a Come to Jesus meeting with me.  I found all the damn wrappers from his food escapade in the trash cans as I was cleanin' up.  He blamed it on the carrot sticks.   Eyeroll  He did agree that treats are treats when they are special and not mixed together like a Woodstock Reunion.  He no longer stands watch alone.

Some of the best fried okra and fried green tomatoes as well.

Well, I have two now -- a soprano and a concert uke. The concert uke is the newest one, made from ebony wood. It has a slightly wider fretboard which makes certain chords easier to play because my fingers don't get all jammed up. The new uke replaced a concert uke that I had which I didn't like. I gave it away to someone who was really wanting to learn the uke but couldn't afford to buy one. So now I have a concert uke that I like.

Each of them has a unique voice. But I have so much to learn. I thought learning chords was going to be the biggest challenge but no -- it's strumming. Strumming is actually pretty complicated if you want to do it right.

My theory is that good coffee is the key to good strumming.

Grab a cup of covfefe, @Red Auroras...

Required two cups! I trust you read this as well.

Now, we both know the push is on IRT submarine warfare and ASW. (OBTW, the new CNO recently nominated comes from the VP navy) There were two almost identical words mentioned early on that caught my eye, seafloor and seabed.

The SOSUS network has worked well in the past. But that was for noisy mechanicals in the last century. I can personally attest that if my vehicle made noises like I've heard through passive devices, the next stop would be the junkyard. With the recent rumbles of creating a domed habitat on the moon, don't be too quick to dismiss the possibility of... Plus we've heard rumors of "experiments" for well over 20 years. Think of a triangle with DC and Norfolk being two points as one location.

We've discussed drones here and in other threads. It's the 21stC and no matter how much we kick and scream... Just like a bullet leaving a barrel, whether we're talking aircraft, ships, missiles, or torpedos, velocity is the key to terminal performance. Hit the target long before the report is heard, much less before they know there's a shooter nearby.

Overall, this report doesn't have me scratching my head so much as shaking it. I got a warm'n'fuzzy on some goals but others, not so much. This generation of military leaders are still stuck on multi-role equipment. Admittedly, it's worked well for the Hornet. Configured as a fighter, a quick SW change makes it a bomber. Slap a few pods on it and it's a jammer/ECM tool. At least they've all but ditched the single-seaters for deployed squadrons. Too much work for one person. Oooor, take a page from the AWACS program and load up a C-17 with mobile flight station consoles to command an entire squadron of drones. Dale Brown might've been onto something!

Ughhh...more covfefe. Plus, slap the camera battery in the charger and decide where a vantage point will be for the launch up at Wallops this afternoon.

At the same time, I remember mounting no-sh!t fuzzbusters in the cockpit to detect SAM 6's. And I wish I could've made off with one of the 20X rifle scopes we mounted as a visual ID tool in light of the Walker clan IFF fiasco.

Sidebar: the OBOGS hypoxia hazard still exists today.
