If you are too poor to afford food then one should not be buying drugs.  I think if drug testing did happen that maybe some parents would clean up and start taking am active role in bettering their children's lives.

Alot of people have drug problems they cant control. Im not sure how food stamps work, i think only America has them, but even poor  junkies need food.

ok blue...usually i agree with you on some things, but what's with the america bashing? :/

That really wasn't America basking, I have read worse. Many countries do not understand. I cannot understand Europe and their 6 weeks of holiday. I always appreciate posts from other countries because their perspective of America is so different. I have a friend that was over seas for 15 years and has recently come home. His head is spinning at how bad things really are.

I should probably get a second job so I can pay more taxes so junkies can have more free food. If you cannot afford food, how can one afford crack? And usually if you can get food stamps you get most of the other entitlements i.e. housing assistance, money, heating assistance.... free medical.... I have no problem with people using welfare and food stamps when they are down, unemployed or disabled because that is what it is for but a percentage of people live on entitlements and that I cannot condone. I get drug tested for my job, I get paid. So if your job is sucking on the entitlement teet, then drug testing would be a good thing IMO.

I agree with you in part and I understand what Blue is saying too.
Florida does drug testing and it was discovered that the testing was costing the taxpayers more than the savings from denying food stamps.
Most drugs leave the body fairly quickly ( except pot) so all someone has to do is remain clean for about a week, then go take the test.
The report I read (and it's been awhile) stated that the only druggies they were denying were pot smokers.
I do agree though. If you can't afford food-especially if you have children-you have no business buying drugs.
Getting clean is hard I know,I've known more than one recovering addict. The ones I know all have children and they wanted better for their children so got clean.
There are programs that will help addicts if they are serious about sobriety.

I wonder about states where Medical marijuana is legal? If they do this testing in those states, lots of legitimate sick and disabled folks will have to decide between food or meds.
The food stamp program here in the states is both state and federally funded and they could go after MM patients in a similar way that Hawaii is going after legal gun owners with a script for MM.

this is some seriously low hanging fruit.

the united states spends $611billion annually on 'defense'....more than the next 8 nations combined.

your taxes are not paying for food stamps. your taxes are going toward interest on debt incurred decades ago.

where the fuck are the human beings?

opiates addiction has skyrocketed due to pharmaceuticals being dumped into the mainstream by doctors......soccer moms are becoming junkies.

the real question is why are so many people in our society depressed and wanting to alter themselves in the first place?

wake me up when they start drug testing politicians and all government employees.

Thats not America bashing..

Its not a great system to foreigners, the US. Sorry if that offends you when people point that out.. use all that money spent on wars, on Americans. Food stamps are socialism to a high level. If you had a proper universal healthcare system, like Australias, your country would be more humane to Americans.

They often bass bills they know will be overturned in court, even after they've been beaten once already.

It's political posturing.

Do you live in Oklahoma? Just wondering. I do.
