Wisconsin moving ahead with plan to drug test food stamp users
#1
MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker moved ahead Monday with his plans to make Wisconsin the first state to drug test able-bodied adults applying for food stamps, a move blocked by the federal government or found to be unconstitutional when other states have tried.

Wisconsin's plan was approved by the Republican-controlled Legislature more than two years ago, but it languished because it conflicts with federal rules prohibiting states from imposing additional eligibility criteria on food stamp recipients.

Florida had a drug test requirement for food stamp recipients that a federal appeals court blocked in 2014, finding it violated constitutional protections against unreasonable searches. Walker filed a federal lawsuit in 2015 seeking approval to test food stamp applicants, but it was rejected because then-President Barack Obama's administration had not yet formally rejected the state's request to do the testing.

:bumped: for discussion. Got to cook right now.
I'm of two minds on this because the issue is not as cut and dried as it seems. Not to me anyway.
Mamas~ You are not raising your sons. You are raising your daughter in law's husband and your grandchildren's father~

Sounds like the Oklahoma legislature.

They often bass bills they know will be overturned in court, even after they've been beaten once already.

It's political posturing.

Love the headline and idea but have little faith that it will ever happen. Did I read it to as unconstitutional, search and seizure? That seems odd.
If you are too poor to afford food then one should not be buying drugs. I think if drug testing did happen that maybe some parents would clean up and start taking am active role in bettering their children's lives.

I should probably get a second job so I can pay more taxes so junkies can have more free food. If you cannot afford food, how can one afford crack? And usually if you can get food stamps you get most of the other entitlements i.e. housing assistance, money, heating assistance.... free medical.... I have no problem with people using welfare and food stamps when they are down, unemployed or disabled because that is what it is for but a percentage of people live on entitlements and that I cannot condone. I get drug tested for my job, I get paid. So if your job is sucking on the entitlement teet, then drug testing would be a good thing IMO.

or you could lobby the government to stop false flags and wars and paying money to the zionist entity.

and flush washington scum out until you get a fair banking and medical system. never mind an educational system with equal opportunities for rich and poor.

and question them about the black budget too.   Chuckle

Free medical is a human right in most western countries, even for people that have money..

If people are so down and out they need food stamps, who cares if they are junkies, let them eat.
