Why I consider quitting YT and FB
#1
Hello,

I’ve been using youtube for many years now, and I noticed odd patterns in suggested videos during the past year.

I don’t know how the algorithms work, that suggest videos for me, but I literally feel like it’s trying to manipulate my emotions. The suggestions also change depending on the time of

It’s a bit hard to explain, but I’ll try:

As an example, if I’m in a good mood and listening to music, I get suggested things that piss me off and try to ruin my mood, mostly political / environment

This usually happens in the evening when I try to relax and get my mind off all the crap.

The same pattern I notice on Facebook, it ”wants” to make me happy or angry, by filtering posts.

I sometimes think, why is everything so negative today on FB, but when I dig deeper, it’s just my feed, many other friends have posted positive things.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Yes, it was wildly reported across Glop back in the day that people would developed a twitching left eye syndrome.

It was theorized as a stress syndrome.

What I am suggesting is that you have a closed system that is responding to too much external stimuli.

Because the damage is cumulative you can only tell your breaking point by symptoms.
-------

And ,yes, that "stress overloading" can be "managed" by bad players.

The best source of case study on the subject was a book called:

Future Shock
By
Alvin Toffler

(Short read)
He explains that stress is cumulative, has a formula to express your "breaking level"
-even had one case study that what finally broke a woman was "standing in a grocery aisle trying to pick which shampoo to buy"

Electronic suggestions are another piece in the overall level.

Thanks! I will check that book out. I can relate to that ”too many choices” stress

I only just recently noticed YT is suggesting to "me" to subscribe to YT accounts that are people I know in real life that I have not heard from in years. I guess through Gmail?
I don't know.
I am sick of it, I do know.

Please remember , I did make a thread last Thursday describing google forcing all logins to use java.

There is so much "bloat code" and call home functions that google just became a full blown virus

It will even delete apps across ALL your devices now .

Haven't used FB in a long while.
Apart from the ad's (get Adblock)...
Mostly just listen to tunes on YT.
Get what you described to a point with TV and local radio.
Don't watch or listen to that shite if I can help it.
I am responsible for my own emotional reaction to external reality.

I'm glad this thread is here because I've been getting ads right in the middle of a song or videos and they seem to be targeted to my location. As an example, I was listening to a speech by Reagan and all of sudden it was interrupted by an ad to vote for Joe Donnelly. Joe Donnelly was the incumbent senator for Indiana who lost to Braun. I'm sure the Donnelly ad was not going out to everyone listening to that speech, just people in my area. That told me youtube knows my exact location and who was running for senator in Indiana. Donnelly is a democrat. I found two more ads for him while on youtube and none for Braun who is the republican who won. Election fuckery on the part of youtube.

They know where you are, people, and have proved it.

Pin request, I'm interested in knowing if this is happening to other people.

Considered?

Is it really that hard to stop using them?

I haven't used FB in many years, and YT I use once in a blue moon to watch certain documentaries
