Why do Christians pray to Jesus?
#21
I pray, but I put it out there for any who will listen. Chuckle

I don't pray to Jesus. I am not Christian. I am..me. Wink
I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die.

I did when I was 12 or 13 yrs old.
Cover to cover, both the Old and New Testament.
I just wanted to know what all of the hubibilu was all about.
And I was not comfortable with anyone else "telling" me what it said.

But yeah...
What it really all boils down to is:
Love God.
Love each other.
If you can do that. You have fulfilled all the laws.

Not always so easy though, as I for one can certainly testify to.

I am a horrible sinner.
But at least I always ask for forgiveness and am quick to forgive.

Some day's even loving God does not come easy.
And loving my neighbor a near impossibility.
But talking to Jesus like he is my best friend helps me to get thru those times.
Peace and Love!

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

You'll find this written in John 14, the fourth chapter, verse 6.

"Do not worship me but rather, your Father who is in heaven". I know this is in John somewhere but I really don't remember where. The reason I remember the verse at all is because it stuck with me.
In saying he is the way,the truth, and the light, he is pointing out to you who you worship and who you pray to.
@Aquarius mentioned praying "In Jesus name". IOW, as an intercessor .
Did I explain that right? Scratchinghead Whenever I am sending prayers for someone that I know is a follower of Jesus, that's how I phrase it.

Our Father Who Art In Heaven......

So I prayer
Father in Heaven, I need help.......lots of prayers then end with ......In Jesus' Name, Amen

The middle part is thanking Him, praising Him and asking for help.

God is NOT Santa Claus and doesn't give you everything you ask for, sometimes the answer is simple NO.

Did you ever pray to Mother Mary? I was taught to in Catholic school. When Tony was in the hospital and it was touch and go,I performed blots and prayers to the wife of the mad,one eyed god. I figured it was logical since if she,as a wife, could put up with Odin's shit, who am i that I can't deal with my husband's? Heartflowers
Not exactly something Jesus could handle,no offense meant to anyone.

I don't think that little kids really need to pray.

Except maybe around Christmas time....
For that new bicycle.
Or in my case....
A new water bong.

My kids probably sis it that way too behind my back. I was strict. You do not pray for things, you pray for the strength, wisdom and guidance to obtain them.
Or the courage to ask mama Chuckle Then I taught them how to earn those things. Not a perfect plan but then I never was June Cleaver.

Nope
Saints. I always loved saints, which makes perfect sense when you think about it.
Completely turned my back on the church at about.... 15...
I hated going. I do like being in a church but the ceremony falls flat for me.
I do love gospel choir churches though.
All the singing and dancing.
They look like they're having a good time.

Makes perfect sense. I started figuring out a lot of the saints were really gods and goddesses of old early on. I love old cathedrals, beautiful but I get no sense of anything really spiritual.
Ever been to a black folk's church? They are fun, just eat well before you go and maybe bring an energy drink Heartflowers

This was how my mama taught us to pray also, same with the church we attended. You prayed for other's who were going through hard times. You prayed for wisdom, strength and knowledge.

My prayer or blessing I ask for coverage of my family is this:

Dear Heavenly Father,
Please protect my family (names said) physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and financially. Surround them with your protection keeping all negative and evil out and only letting positive and good in.
In your son's wonderful name,
Amen.

I added financially, when all the scams started and identity theft. Not so much for wealthy.
