Maybe we would get back to small farms ... growing food during the summer and preserving it for use over winter.
We don't actually need to eat bananas and pineapple, etc. etc. all winter long!

I've been speaking with people out here in Houston who are Hispanic...and here legally.

I'm finding some very pissed off people.

Not at the president, but at the fact that the congress refuses to acknowledge them and how difficult it was for them to become Legal US Citizens or Permanent Residents.

They are saying that if congress deems illegals, like DACA, get in front of the line and get in for free...then they want a full refund on the thousand of dollars they paid to become citizens or the money they shell out to be here legally.

One lady said it was like going to an amusement park and standing in line for a ride for hours after paying $100 to get in...only so that the park could let in a bunch of people for free and put them in front of the lines.

That was a pretty good analogy.

And she has a good point.  Becoming a US Citizen is an honor, and it costs time and money.  It isn't free and means leaving your old country behind and beginning fresh in your new country.  You take an oath.  The kind of immigrant that does this, is the kind of immigrant we want.  They don't fly their flags while pissing on the American one.

Speaking of which, this actually pisses the good immigrants off, because it makes them feel like they look bad too merely for speaking the same language as the illegal idiots.

So for people to demand they be let in, and the democrats just let them in...give them free benefits, that our people do not get, give them housing breaks, that our people do not get, and educate their kids for free while our kids suffer...is maddening. And it's even more insulting because our tax dollars go towards them vs our people.

We see the same here in Mississippi. Those that did the time and spent the money to become legal citizens don't agree with letting people in just cuz they cross a border. It makes them mad. They feel others should have to go through what they did to become citizens
We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.
Abraham Lincoln

The very word 'secrecy' is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings.

This was such a stellar post, DN.  Cheer

I talked to hispanics during my volunteer work for the Trump campaign,
in CA and AZ, and they were voting for Trump.

Immigration did not come up (this was during the polling phase for
voting preferences), but I have not a doubt in my mind this was a factor
in their choice.

And this is ALL that this is about for the Dims. They are losing not only the
black but also the hispanic vote.

So as has been pointed out countless times by many, they need a new
under- and uneducated minority class heavily welfare dependent to keep
them in power.

(edit and of course this group is predominantly hispanic (though Chinese
and others are quickly outpacing them as people from all over the world
are coming thru--Trump just now talking about Bangladeshis that were
apprehended. But these hispanics are a whole different breed from those
who came here the correct way.)

I talked to Hispanics when Reagan was running for president. I put a lot of time and effort into getting Ronald elected. They were overwhelmingly in favor of him as president.

They liked Ronald because he wanted to treat people fairly. If you are Hispanic and you have knowledge and skills, you are in.

The same for every other ethnicity. You have knowledge and skills your are in.

What is not to like?

Especially if you have a formal education. I appreciate stone masons.

And Trump is the same way.  Yeah3

We must return to a merit-based system, just like most if not all other countries
have. Win-win. And the numbers admitted overall must be cut drastically,
or we are looking at a wholly unsustainable scenario in the not-too-distant
future. Trump has already begun the numbers slashing.  Cheer

No I'm not being silly.

You could potentially gradually deport people, but you can't do it fast.

Do you know how to lay bricks?

Chuckle

We have elderly folks who know how to do everything.
They will teach the younger folks how to get these things done.

This!

I'm not entirely sure why some people automatically assume just because they can't do things for themselves, the rest of us can't.

Brick laying isn't rocket science. Neither is dry wall installation, floating tape over mud, painting or other pretty basic things most people can learn over a weekend.

I don't know when Mexicans became the only people on the planet that can lay bricks. 1dunno1

You know if the border is secure and less illegals steal American taxes, it'll free up many Americans to do things besides work 40+ hour work weeks. Extra money, reduced commute times, more income...heck maybe women who want to stay home can start doing that again!

All I see is positive things from this...worrying about who's going to be laying brick is ridiculous. People will fill those voids.

Besides Mexico could use their people back, they need to focus on making their own country better.

Even better yet, remove H1-B Visa holders too. This would 100% make America great again.

Technically, anyone with a proper visa isn't illegal.
