(I have literally been in a walmart, years ago, in the PGH area where they had this two foot long wand thing that made clicky noises and had lights running up and down it...I don't know exactly what it was...they waved over you and your buggy as you left the store.  They would stop you by stepping out in front of and then standing in front of your buggy so you couldn't go any further w/out hitting them w/the buggy.  This happened to me ONCE.  I called Walmart and had a fit.  The next time I visited that store...no more wand thing.)

So...NO...I don't like "greeters."

Just leave me alone unless I've searched you out for assistance with a product of some sort.

NOPE not these guys! They don't do that and they are wonderful. The one in the post below remembered my name after the first time I told him. Jay is amazing.

Outraged customers started an online petition to save his job, which drew more than 18,500 supporters. He has worked there 15 years!

The company said it was taking steps to support greeters with disabilities. That includes offering those impacted new jobs at their respective stores. A longtime Walmart greeter will remain at his store after all in a new position. Jay Melton, who has cerebral palsy, has accepted a job as a host in the self-checkout area of the Marion Walmart.

"When Jay meets you he's gonna remember you," his dad Jim said. "But he just touches peoples hearts. He's always smiling he always speaks to their kids."

Jay needs a little training but expects to be at his new position by the end of April. He jokes about why he gladly took the new opportunity.

Both Lowe's and Waffle House offered Jay employment, but his first choice was always Walmart.

The people that are running Walmart are brain dead Ivy League idiots, not far removed from that idiot AOC that believes that people like this should be euthanized. They are to stupid to realize how much good will that they could have received from not only promoting people like this but further extending the program. These people are lucky that Sam Walton started a business with a business principle that they don't have a clue as to how it was supposed to operate and are in the process was of destroying that vision. I give Walmart about 10 years before they are a faded memory.

One of the things I thought was amazing was the phone call to his dad from the manager of Lowes here. They reached out immediately.

The thing about Jay is he could guide you to anything in the store and would roll with you to find it. If he had taken the job at Lowes he would have been very valuable.
