They dug their own hole.

I agree.. I don't believe they did nothing. Non compliance and a shitty attitude will get you shot here... Black or not.

Not saying it is right but... Would not be the first time two blacks pulled a publicity stunt for their "I'm so oppressed" bullshit.

I am all through with the race card. Order something or get the fuck out.  get in line assholes.

Not buying any more of it. Behave and wipe that nasty look off your face or I don't give. A Fuck what the cops do to your troublemaking self entitled asses.

I have seen the exact same shit many times in restaurants...
Trying to weasel free food and shit..dozens of times. Always black and always for attention or something free.

That is how it is.

Don't feel one bit sorry.

Oh and fuck Starbucks too..

You win the interwebz for this one.

Especially for the part about the free food.

It has also prompted an “internal investigation” from police after there was no reason given for the arrest other than the men were waiting for a friend.

The video was shared on Twitter Thursday by @MissyDePino, which shows the two men being handcuffed and taken out of the coffee shop at 18th and Spruce Streets. To illustrate the unjust nature of the arrest, the friend that the two men were supposedly waiting on actually showed up as his friends were being handcuffed.

The man who showed up even explained to police that they were waiting for him to get there before they ordered. However, they were cuffed and arrested anyway.

As Philly.com reports, the identities of the people seen in the video and why they were handcuffed and taken out of the Starbucks by numerous officers remain unclear. District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office, reached through spokesman Benjamin Waxman on Saturday, had no immediate comment on the incident.

However, witnesses say they know what happened.

“The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything,” DePino wrote, tagging Starbucks in her post. “They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. All the other white ppl are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing.”

“What did they do?” asks the man claiming to be the friend of the two men. “What are they getting (arrested) for, just being black men sitting there waiting?”

One Philly officer on the scene responds sarcastically, “Exactly, that’s it.”

“What did they do?” asks the friend of the pair now in handcuffs.

“They didn’t do anything,” responds Depino as she films. “I saw the entire thing.”

As the video went viral on Twitter, it prompted users to call for a boycott of Starbucks and also urge them to respond.

Yep, #boycottstarbucks is trending on twitter.
Theoretically, I don't think they should have been arrested as they didn't do anything else than refusing to leave because they were waiting for a friend. But it's hard to judge without knowing the whole situation. Maybe they were standing in the way of the other customers? Maybe they had a rude or threatening attitude?

Even so, getting handcuffed seems really overkill. You don't arrest or handcuff someone because he doesn't want to leave and insists on waiting for someone.

Oh yes they do..

Here in Oklahoma we have a high percentage of black cops..some are a combination red neck cowboy hat wearing N word pigs... Corrupt as Fuck. Beat the black or white off of you for flinching.

Their attitudes got them arrested... End of story.

Fuck them and I hope they lose their gimmee money bullshit frivolous lawsuits.

And Starbucks goes out of business.

I think I get it. I think the whole thing was a deliberate act of provocation.

They didn't call the police because the two didn't order anything, but because they were "sitting there waiting" after having been asked to leave (which itself may or may not be justified).  This looked like provocation and I guess it may actually have been. They could as well have ordered while waiting for their friend but refused to do so.

Doesn't this look like a scripted provocation to elicit some negative social media response? This works every time, doesn't it?

Every time.

But OTOH, maybe it also depends on the times you are living in. In the seventies people were much more relaxed, I don't think anyone would actually have called the cops on you for refusing to leave if you didn't order anything and they probably wouldn't have asked you to order or leave in the first place as this in itself is not very polite either.

I'm assuming they weren't innocent little angels. Most likely got lippy or threatening.

When black people start getting attitude it's time to call in the cops. They are prone to violent outburts. That's a fact.

I don't know about anyone else but i feel guilty if i am sitting down in a place being social with friends and have not bought anything.
If they wanted to wait they should of waited in their car till their friend came or ordered something like most normal people do....

But as usual the media has turned this into something racist....
Oh how dare whitey call the police on some fine black folks who were just trying to rest and wait for their outstanding citizen friend.
I am sure the employee will be let go for just doing his or her job.
