TRUMP Crushes NATO
#41
(07-11-2018, 03:00 PM)COW Wrote: I see you are on the page of numbers, to be frank, the numbers are somewhat skewed as the past two Presidents cut the budget, cut the maintenance, cut the pay, removed military controls over engagement, conspired with foreign entities to purchase inferior parts and base materials which all contributed to a very depreciated US military. The Money Trump is now Forced to spend is to bring the military back to its pre-Clinton era. I seriously doubt that is going to actually happen as the world continues to grow up and find they need to fix their own militaries. The needs for the US to have bases, men, and equipment all across the globe will diminish. This, in turn, will decrease the need for the present upgrades and replacement equipment and technology to continue much past the next few years. Peace is the greatest equalizer, with peace the militaries will be downsized, budgets will be spent on infrastructure, people, and technology. Unfortunately, the population of the earth is so overcapacity that this will not matter in just a few decades if there is not a massive kill off. We all see it happening, we all watch as it grows but few are doing anything to slow it down or stop it. The socialist mantra will not allow proper population control but the world is in charge not its inhabitants and population control is in full swing as the planet heats up for the coming Ice age. We will be forced to depopulate as we are driven back to the equator and underground. The military expenditures will become irrelevant as will this discussion...Fatalism: is sometimes the ability to see the future as it is.

Merkel bites her lip for the photo shoot with the Trumps in Brussels.

I remember when Cameron did that when he had to stand next to Obama.

Sassy, Trumpers and Trumpettes can be very thin-skinned in their emotional
response to anyone who doesn't lavish praise on whatever he does.
It's a standard of cultishness I can't approve of and have never seen before
in other presidencies.

Trump "crushes" NATO -

by asking them to spend more money to buy weapons and troops for NATO.

ok. gotcha.

I thought it was a great headline and great thread @KOMMA . Why should we not only continue to contribute such a large portion but also send in the largest troop numbers when there is a conflict? And then have our allies making deals with the guys they ask us to help protect them from?

It looks to me like our allies have made their own arrangements outside NATO and that's good actually. But, if US support is no longer needed, that money will serve a pretty good purpose back here at home.

I read a great article on NATO. Trump did crush NATO in the sense that he did not follow the past behaviors and he spoke his mind. Trump always speaks his mind. Could he have another reason to encourage other countries to build up their weapons?
Quote: For one thing, The US has by far the largest military industry. So it makes a lot of money off the billions already spent by NATO partners on weaponry. Of course Raytheon, Boeing et al would like to see them spend more. But once they would have done that, they would clamor for even more after.

The closing of the article linked above sums it up nicely: We’re all captive to people who want us to believe we’re still stuck in the last century, because that is their over-luxurious meal ticket. But it’s all imaginary, it’s an entirely made-up narrative. NATO is a con game.

He wants them to buy more weapons from the MIC.
I fail to see what you ppl see in this guy, just pay attn to facts, not to hype and bluster.

Treebeard he's a business man, he knows how to negotiate with the unions, he's been doing it his whole life. Trump tells them that they have to pay as much as America, see how they like it. He knows they won't increase it to 4 percent, that's probably where he's starting the negotiations. What he's trying to do is reduce America's spending on NATO, and for America to reduce it's spending it means that the NATO countries have to increase their spending to defend themselves. Trump can justify spending on improving equipment, he can't justify paying for others that can afford to pay of it for themselves.

Chuckle

Don't bother. Treebeard has his mind made up..

Don't bother trying to persuade him to see it Any other way than his own.

Trump is bad... Ok?

No matter what he might know a little more about than he will ever be given credit for.

Because... Hillary and her cabal say so.

The European Union makes it impossible for our farmers and workers and companies to do business in Europe (U.S. has a $151 Billion trade deficit), and then they want us to happily defend them through NATO, and nicely pay for it. Just doesn’t work!
