Heard this on the radio today, now apparently Daddy is facing 2 more Federal charges for Terroristic Threats and Retaliation.
Apparently he threatened to do harm to two Federal game officers and their families.
I will not go quietly into the night......

Exactly.   I'm the guy that releases the biggest fish with the best genetics. My brother lives in Anchorage and 99% of Alaskans would beat this guy's ass for this.  Every part of that State that I've seen is beautiful.  It just feels different there, feels like where people are supposed to live. Coming back to flyover country was depressing after 10 days there.

Look, I had a black bear charge me just last year. He crossed the imaginary line and I  had no choice. I might not even be here if my son hadn't thrown off the shock and opened up as well. I stepped it off at 17yds after making sure we'd disconnected that brain. So while I wish it'd never happened, no guilt here.

But there's absolutely no excuse for the wanton slaughter described in the OP.

I had a black bear charge me, I threw up my arms and let out a rebel yell, that bear nearly flipped over backwards and ran off faster than it ran at me.

PALMER — A father and son from the Matanuska Valley are accused of illegally shooting a sow black bear and its two newborn cubs in a den, then trying to cover up their actions without realizing a game camera was running the whole time.

Andrew Renner, 41, and Owen Renner, 18, were charged this week with felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from the mid-April poaching incident on Esther Island in Prince William Sound, according to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch Wednesday.

The charges were filed Monday in Anchorage District Court, records show.

An attorney for Andrew Renner said he hadn't seen the charges and couldn't comment.

The bears were part of a U.S. Forest Service and Alaska Department of Fish and Game study, and the men's activity was captured by a motion-triggered game camera, troopers say. The sow was also collared.

What a couple of pieces of crap, I hope they get the maximum penalty allowed by law, at least a couple of decades.

I have black bears all over my property, I have a lot of respect for them! Black bears WILL stalk humans if the opportunity presents itself! They may look cute but they are dangerous wild animals! I have never had to shoot one, but I use common sense and have respect for wildlife!

Same here in Oklahoma.

Always release the good breeding stock or fish with eggs etc..

And Black Bears are mostly invisible and harmless. What kind of asshole father teaches his son to be a piece of shit like that?

I'll bet the kid learns a valuable lesson. The father is probably a lost cause and playing victim. Assholes like that always do.

He had no integrity, to begin with, or he wouldn't have slaughtered those animals so callously.

They only do that if they are starving threatened or with cubs... Once in a while rabies etc..

if you HAVE TO shoot one you have to... You better have a damn good reason. I'm with you, common sense.

.......but it ain't all that common anymore.

Make yourself appear as large and intimidating as possible, that is the correct action with black bears. The report of a firearm usually sends them running for the hills too.

When they get habituated to man.. usually where stupid people leave trash for them to rummage in, problems occur. They are always looking for the easiest meal.. that is all they do all day and all night. NEVER leave trash or food laying around. HANG your food high when you camp in the woods. Think Yogi bear and the pick a nick basket... They can't help themselves but YOU CAN.

It is much better to make them FEAR man.. For the well being of everyone involved.

I use firecrackers and warning shots here. No animal likes the BANG sound. they don't know what it is but they run from it.
