Even the poor people all have free obama phones and smartphones that is! People will resist a chip but everyone loves their smartphone and so much so that they even sleep with it right next to their bed. Even with me, my phone follows me everywhere. Even when I shower, it's in the bathroom with me. My phone is with me 24/7 and most other people are doing the same. Who needs a chip when it is now obsolete?

Not everyone has a smart phone. I saw it for what it was and never wanted one. A few years back I needed to get one to log into an IM program called Line for work. It sits in a desk drawer and I only use it with wifi to log into that program. Then it is shut off and goes back in the drawer. My phone is a landline.

Landlines are going the way of the:
daily newspaper delivery
glass milk bottle delivery
analog big tube TV sets
Ham radio
non computerized automobiles

Even now, AT$T is lining the pockets of CongressCritters to rid the telecom giant of
having to service landlines any longer. They will be going dark in the very near future
and the ones still available will cost MORE to operate than a sweet smartphone service plan.

They should have forced (for public safety) ATT to have maintained the legacy lines; for their proven robustness in times where other voice technology’s fail or just are terrible quality; in this regard they can save lives... the old landlines.
