That actually works well for making your own ice cream cakes.

Get an appropriately sized cake pan (or slightly larger) and make the cakes about an inch thick. Keep an eye on them so they don't burn. If you are working with a slightly larger pan, trim to size.

Layer cake, ice cream, cake, ice cream, cake, and etc to as high as you want.

You can even frost it and throw sprinkles and other decorations on it if you want. Wink

Ice cream cookies, sandwiches, and the like can also be made with this method.

The trick to the home made ice cream cakes is to make sure the ice cream is very deeply frozen when you cut it and the cake portion is not completely cooled before layering.

The ice cream melts into the cake just a slight bit before you throw the thing back in the freezer and the layers won't slide around when you try cutting portions for people.
