I lasted one day at 17 as a dishwasher at a place on the beach in West Haven CT known as Jimmies of Savin Rock. If I could send my work ethic from now back to my teen self I would have had the sense to walk out of the shithole in under an hour. It was miserably hot in that kitchen and the work never ended. One of the owners would be in the kitchen screaming at us to move faster. In retrospect I should have hauled off and broken his face.
