Talk about your first job(s)

I'm bored lying around... this topic just popped into my head.

Tell us all about your first job or jobs... were you still living with your parents or did you start working after you moved out?

Did you end up in a completely different field than you thought you would as a kid?

Ok I'll tell mine, only becuz I been drinkin'

After the beet field hoeing at 14, my next job was a few blocks away at a King's Food Host as a waitress.. at 15. Home of the famous "Cheese Frenchee" I might add.

Then I went to another waitress job out farther, my father had to drive me and pick me up. He also conspired with me to lie about my age, because I was still 15. Chuckle We pulled it off. That was REALLY hard work, late night shifts, and taking a lot of abuse from drunk men after the bars closed. EXHAUSTING!

Then I finally got a job that I WANTED working in a hospital. And I was able to take care of people, and see so many things and learn so much about life. I took care of newborns, and assisted in delivering babies, and everything in between from birth canal to the morgue. Looking back, it was super-spiritual experience for me, and I was once mistaken for an angel by a housekeeping staff. I really grew from that and I think of it as the happiest time of my life.

First job was cutting grass and landscaping at church. They had a big property so it was a daily job.

Second job was at Meijer in the seafood department.
Told my manager to shove before lunch one day and left.

Hauling hay beginning in 7th grade.  Paid 3-5 cents a square from field to barn plus all you can eat.  I was the richest 7th grader I knew.

I babysat and cleaned houses starting at 14 then when I was a senior in high school, I got my first real job as a waitress. It was a family style restaurant with a counter. Since I was new I started by working the counter. There was a French-Canadian construction crew that would come in on most days. The first night they came in and ordered poutine. What??? They all got a huge laugh from the expression on my face after they explained what poutine was. Come to find out the chef would make poutine for the crew. I was such a hick but I loved that job and grew to love gravy on my fries.

I would say I was at my PEAK of spiritual development during my patient care days. I felt that I was 100 percent INVINCIBLE on the spiritual plane because I KNEW I was doing right by my fellow man/woman kind. And any time I missed the mark, I got DIRECT and nearly IMMEDIATE feedback. I stayed on the straight and narrow for a long time, with only the HIGHEST regard for all humankind in their suffering.
