Record high temperatures have been shattered in the West to start this week, and more records will fall along portions of the Pacific coast into the middle of this week.

San Francisco was among the cities to shatter a record high the past couple of days as the temperature throttled to 92 F on Sunday and up to the triple-digit mark Monday.

"Temperatures in San Francisco reached 100 F on Monday, which was 3 degrees higher than the maximum temperature at Las Vegas and equaled the high at Sacramento, California," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski. Monday's high beat the old daily record of 94 set back in 1994.

SF is on the ocean Bubb, that's hot moist air. Your clothing sticks to you, you're breathing steam like air. I'll take 110F in Arizona over 100F SF any day. Think urban jungle environment.

Plus, 50% of the population moved there a year or two ago .. They aren't used to it. Short tempers.. Talk of EARTHQUAKE WEATHER..The Millennials freak out. They think they're all gonna die in a hot weather quake.

OMG that's hot, 100 in a coastal city, the humidity makes you feel like you're being waterboarded or something. And I can't imagine 110.
Was a nice 26C (77F) here all day that might seem cool to you Southerners but I sure enjoyed it.

Didn't know you were in NYC. You're likely worse in the heat then we are. After three days of heat, the fog rolls in. Nature's AC. Out in the avenues, it's usually pretty cool in the summer. Near the bay, it stays hot a lot.

77F is just about perfect, imo.

They've been doing lots of tree "trimming" (often unnecessary tree
destruction) in my locale (east of SF) for months now though we too
are still under threat of brownout (none yet so far).

It's hot on your side of the tunnel. No fog relief.

We'll often get the fog/ocean breezes sooner than others
as we're just this side of the Oakland hills. Not often
enough though it seems! Chuckle
