Post Your Best Guess

What is the lost production cost for US companies due to cell phone usage. You know the kind I speak of. I’ve never seen anything like it. Don’t count this. I still have 22 minutes to report. Lol.
My guess is 500 billion dollars.

I have no idea the amount of dollars lost annually but it has to be a huge number. We had an issue of our workers messing on their cell phones. We made a policy that phones were to be kept in your cars. Since that policy we have caught numerous workers hiding and texting. Some of our workers are probably over a half hour a day

Most everything has a price and that includes keeping sheep in a state of sheephood.

That seems so minuscule to me!

Let's work with it. 8 hour day.
.5 hour wasted on cell usage.
Assume an median US worker annual wage of: 905 per week (bureau of Labor statistics)
905 / 40 = 22.62 / hour
22.61 * .5 = 11.32 per worker per day.
11.32 * 5 = 56.60 per week wasted
As of December 2019, there were 131.14 million full-time employees in the United States (statista.com)

56.60 x 131,140,000 = 7,422,524,000 weekly
7,422,524,000 x 50 weeks = 371,126,200,000 annually.

BUT! This is just full-time employees. We would have to gather part-time numbers to fully calculate that waste into this waste to get our Total Real Cell Phone Waste.

But also we would have to consider how much of this number is being perceived as waste, but may be legitimate and should not be labelled waste.

And maybe we would have to consider how much gets added to productivity by cell phones, in the sense that companies can immediately communicate with Salespeople, delivery drivers, any other type of workers who are remote to management.

I couldn't put a dollar figure on it because the per hour rate of people and businesses are all across the board...

but...

I would imagine that companies are losing 1 to 1 1/2 hours per day per employee.

This is why I am self employed and have no employees. Do not need that burden to make a living and I am not that greedy to take on workers for a few more bucks
