Cracks me up.  Anyone with any sothern knows it as Corn meal hash.  Why I love cooking.  Folks don't know the fact that is "poor man's food" with paying non poor man's price for the name.  Jptdknpa

That is kind of a conspiracy. Rustic food has become hipster food.  Conspiracy is folks are idiots.

Right on! Do you remember when Brisket was trash meat? Poor peoples food. Cheaper to buy rib-eyes now.

I would give my left arm for some brisket right now.

It is cornmeal mush, not hash...

Goofness...

My grandmother used to make polenta and wild rabbit stewgravy...

But my other grandmother from OK, visited us in CA when I was under the age of six, I loved mushroom soup, and kept saying I want mush, I want mush... meaning mushroom soup...

Well the poor lady made me corn meal mush, now that I look back I think that was my first WTF, is that thought....

Takes a long time to make, gives you muscles....

Stir, Stir,

Mmmm. I love corn meal mush.
About once a year I make scrapple with a quality breakfast sausage and mush.
It's a winter treat.
