How come we can put down fluffy when in pain and dying, but not granny?
Poor old Gran, she has to suffer and gulp till the bitter end.
It's not like these folks were gonna up and go again.
Kind if you ask me.

I just watched my mother die of starvation and dehydration under Hospice care this week.  She begged me to "assist" her, but I obviously couldn't do that.  NOT how I want to go!!!

tears

Oh I'm so sorry.

Thanks, friend. I will say that I'm re-evaluating my fervent Christian opposition to assisted suicide. Nobody who is terminally ill should have to needlessly suffer against their wishes. What a moral dilemma...

That's a tough one for sure.
I had a friend who committed suicide.
He had severe seizures and it made me reevaluate too.
I still don't know though... it's hard one and individual I think.
Best of wishes for you and yours.

If I'm ever terminal and suffering. That's when, as a woman, I'll pull out my...

I remember when one of my Doctor's committed suicide. I would go to see him at his office and he would have these Visa, and Mastercard bills scattered on his desk with high 4 figure balances, like $20,000 or more. This was when I was younger, and I told him I had money problems and he said at least you don't owe $25,000 to Visa.

So I got a call that he had died, they didn't say he committed suicide and they assigned me another Dr, but I guess he was over committed so I had to go get another Dr. of my own. I went to my suicide Dr's funeral, and I met the Dr. I used after him there. It was a closed casket so he probably fogged himself.

You have to be careful with a shotgun suicide. I have met people at AA that tried to kill themselves with a shotgun and all they succeeded in doing is blowing their jaw off.

I hope I get a peaceful death, but one never knows.

I think IF the people want to have assisted death due to their medical condition, that should be their choice, but not by someone else's decision.
I think many would choose that option IF it was legal, and for all  we know maybe some of the ones he killed, made it obvious they wanted to die rather than live like they were, we will probably not know that.

Exactly. This is why doctors here will continue to give pain relief when a terminally ill patient keeps asking for more.
They concentrate on relieving pain in peoples final days. Whether the opioids take them or the illness itself is of no matter.
If death is inevitable & nothing else can be done, it's the humane thing to do.
