My First Time Experience at 5 Guys Burgers.

There's a 5 guys here in Omaha. My daughter and I thought we'd try it one afternoon and turned into the parking lot. I drove around the building and was surprised to see they didn't have a drive-thru. Never did go back.

Around here, there's a place called Freddy's Frozen Custard. The owner is a WWII Vet (recently passed) and they make the most amazing steak burgers, beef hot dogs and milk shakes. Their fries are good...they are 'shoestring' style fries, so not my favorite. They have two locations in Omaha.

There's another local place called Bronco Burgers. They offer a burger that's very much like home-made. They serve it on your choice of bun (including simple bread slices) and you add the toppings from a buffet style condiment bar. They also offer pork tenderloins and other sides. Really good food that's just as good as homemade. They also have two locations in Omaha.

Finally, there's Runza. Their claim to fame is a beef and cabbage sandwich that's served 'burrito style'. It's good, but I always order their burgers. Again, very much like homemade. Their fries are awesome...the crinkle cut style like you'd fry up at home. They also serve an incredible, Texas style chili and huge, iced cinnamon rolls. They have several locations in Nebraska and a couple outside the State.

But, the best restaurant burger I ever had was from Famous Dave's. It costs the same as a quarter rack of ribs, but it's a lot of burger and tastes great!

Fussy...5guys burgers are a wonderful, greasy, heart attack on a bun...made fresh and the potatoes are there because they are also made fresh... the first time we went, I didn't know the size of their orders and ordered us all a medium fry. That's 2 brown bags FULL of French fries. There are better burgers at local restaurants and the gourmet burger business is taking off, but 5 guys is the best chain around, bar none. I've never had the issues that were mentioned and it sounds like a staffing problem and that's unfortunate. Fat burger is the only other chain I've been to that comes close and that's because they do their burgers fresh, just like 5guys....I don't know where people live that a chilli dog costs 7 bucks, but that's not the price down here

BEST burger ever (jmo) is at MGM Grand Detroit casino in the food court the Breeze it's called NATIONAL CONEY ISLAND!!!

Every time I go there...which is about 3-4 times a year I eat there! I got 2 five guys near me, and I like them a lot, but this place kills them!

5 guys is alright, it is super expensive.

Not sure what sort of burger joints you guys have in America, but we have a great chain in Toronto called 'Burger Priest', slightly lower cost than 5 guys and much tastier burgers.

There is another place up the street from me, and although more expensive than 5 guys they have something I've never seen anywhere else in my life; a bacon patty!!
Seriously, a bacon patty with a beef patty...Heart attack in a bun and mighty taste

At the time, my daughter was 16 or so. Last thing she wanted to do is go out in public with her Dad lol

I had never been to 5 Guys but had heard more that one person say how great they were.

So today I looked up the nearest 5 Guy (20 minuets away) and off I went.

I arrived around 1:30pm, wanted to avoid any lunch time rush.

I walked in, the place was empty except for two couples sitting at tables.

Looked around and the first thing I noticed is the place was filthy.  Shit all over the floor, shit on all the tables.

Anyhow, I went up to the counter and ordered a bacon cheese burger, nothing fancy, lettuce, onions, and bbq sauce. Also ordered the cajun fries.  I assumed those were the "spicy fries" @~mc~ said were so good.

Oh and a large drink.

Chick behind the counter rang it all up and told me the bill was $18 and change.  I almost hit the floor.  

I bit my tongue, took my drink cup and ticket and found a table to sit at, a table I had to clean off myself.  That really pissed me off.

So I sat there, sipping on my Dr. Pepper.  And sat there and sipped, and sat there and sipped, refilled my drink and sat there and sipped.

I watched too.  They cared more about the take out orders than they did about the people who were there to eat in their establishment.

Finally, after what felt like an unacceptable amount of time for a damn burger and fries, they called my number.

No tray, nothing but a brown paper bag.

So I grab my brown paper bag and go back to the table I had to clean and looked inside.  The burger was at the bottom and a pile of fries were sitting on top.  I had to dig past a pile of hot fries to reach my burger.  That pissed me off too.

So I dig the burger out of the mound of fries, unwrap it and god damn if they didn't forget the bbq sauce.  The burger was dry.  It also looked like a "I don't give a fuck" person made it.

You may not believe this, but I'm not a person to complain when shit doesn't go right with my meal at a restaurant, I just deal with it and write that place off as somewhere I'll not eat again.

I go and get some ketchup from the pump and put it on my burger.

It wasn't a bad burger, I've had worse, the fries were good but not $5 for a regular sized fry good.  For sucks sake potatoes are cheap. I brought the majority of the fries home and the ole lady tossed them in the oven and ate them.

Was it worth $19 dollars?  Hell no!  I can go to Red Robin and get a better burger, unlimited steak fries, a clean table and a waitress filling my drink for the same money.   Hell, I can go to Whataburger and feed both myself and the ole lady for $18 and it's just as good as what 5 Guys offers.

So... You folks eating 5 Guys are getting screwed, first and last time I eat their over priced burger and fries.

Hey that sounds like a disgusting experience. There is a 5 Guys not far from here. I've never eaten there. I'm not excited about paying $19 for something I could get at Whataburger for a lot less money.

AND at Whataburger the tables are clean. They run a tidy little ship there.

I went to 5 Guys once.

Everyone who worked there was morbidly obese and moved real slow.

Food was mediocre and over priced.

I'm surprised they are still in business.
