I know you would like that store, @KOMMA and bet you know of
them.  Wink

(I discovered them when I got a shopping request from one of my
mom's friends when I spent my year studying abroad in the U.K.)

Don't think their products are sold in the States though surely
they're available online.

Yes, @Verity I used to like swanning around Neal's Yard, although I found the shop to be expensive.

Glad you liked Covent Garden. I was there prior to it being transformed.  I remember a couple Australian guys opened a wine bar and I looked at the plans for Covent Garden, I knew that it was going to be a huge success. I met the guys at a venue in Camden Lock. I shared with some friends that were retailers, that they should get in early and get a shop there prior to all the properties going. After it was all refurbished, her husband said it was the biggest mistake of his life, not listening to the business advice that I gave him. He said, "got any other bright ideas?", as they'd moved out of London at that point to Oxfordshire. So in the 80s I told him what would be successful and to open a gym, he didn't do that either, they stayed on in retail until they had to surrender and get employed.

I don't know when it was redone? I haven't been there since the early 90s,
from what I recall it was still very quaint/old worldish but of course I didn't
have anything to compare it with.

"Swanning around," I love that expression and it's one I haven't heard in
some time of course.  Chuckle

My their prices online are steep! I don't recall them being nearly so when
I picked up things there. Looks like they probably do have some stores in
the States as well.  Wink

I think it must have been in the early 70s when the first major change happened to Covent Garden because I was still single, and enjoying it. Chuckle

It was still nice in the 90s although it looks like there has been major changes to the centre of it since then. I think the Rock Cafe with live music was still there then, and the market.

Liberate the power of love within and it is so powerful, it is a key to life. A life redeemed is a life in the hands of the Lord, the voice that said, "You are safe". Every morning he brings his word of unfailing love, he leads the redeemed, in strength he guides the redeemed to his holy dwelling.

come to primarily connote frivolity.

Swanning around and swanning about
Swanning around and swanning about are idioms that have a fairly recent origin. We will look at the meaning of the phrases swanning around and swanning about, where the terms come from and some examples of their use in sentences.

Swanning around and swanning about mean to move about aimlessly, irresponsibly and in a carefree manner. Related terms are swan around or about, swans around or about, swanned around or about. When the terms swanning around and swanning about first appeared in the late nineteenth century, they simply described the process of swimming like a swan. Today’s meaning of the term swanning about has its origins in World War II, interestingly. At that time, swanning around and swanning about described the movements of tanks in battle, in seemingly aimless maneuvers. The term made its way into mainstream English to mean anyone moving about in an irresponsibly carefree or aimless pattern. Swanning around and swanning about are primarily British terms, they are rarely seen in the United States.

Examples

But while their immeasurable grief continues, the gangster who caused them so much pain is swanning around a top security hospital living a “cushy” life. (The Mirror)

String quartets and costumed actors performed classics at the Playhouse; the Westminster Choir sang, Isadora Duncan danced on the stage, and Ruth St. Denis and her Denishawn Dancers swanned around the terraced lawn under the moon. (The East Hampton Star)

Brewer has swanned around the consultancy and advisory circuit for most of the past decade, after a stint running Denis O’Brien’s Caribbean telco, Digicel and also its rival, Cable & Wireless. (The Irish Times)

Since the show has finished, I have had the chance to meet the British Women’s Olympic Canoe Team, swanned around with the baking glitterati at various food shows and fairs, been on weekly radio shows, and been featured on local TV and press. (The Telegraph)

I used to swan around everywhere in London. Before I started work I would swan around all the galleries and museum's on my own, and all the tourist places, I was a right patriot, I was, never got bored swanning around, living in my own little world. There was always something to interest me, even in the Science museum. I even went swanning over to the war museum. I just used to float around London has if I owned it. Chuckle

I knew every nook and cranny, every short cut. Every pie and mash shop, and all the markets. You couldn't let kids swan around like that today in London, especially girls.

I just got back from my one-to-one ballroom dancing session. He was lovely, had a great time. Definitely will book it again. The dance team were British champions in 2016 and they dance all over the UK. We did what they call "Social Foxtrot" today with some other techniques.

After the session loads of other people arrived who have been on their training courses, and it was lovely to see some young children ballroom dancing together. One little girl was with her mum and her gran, they all go ballroom dancing together, three generations. There were some couples dancing and having lessons. Really lovely, mutual enjoyment of dance.

While I was there I also saw that there is a Salsa group that meet at the same hall. So going to take a look at that next.
