MO gonna get some snow
#1
It's a-comin'. Predicting 5-8 inches in central Missouri and 6-12 towards St. Louis area.

We had more snow here in November than we got all last winter. Made for an interesting deer season in November.

We live in a very rural area, so we like to "road trip" during bad weather. Gravel roads, a 4 wheel drive pickup(with Bumper Nutz, of course), crank up some Lynryd Skynyrd, a little toddy in a styrofoam cup from Breaktime, and a 10-22 in case we get attacked by rabbits.

It's great to be a hillbilly.

I've got relatives on both sides of the state, and it strikes me as odd that all they worry about when the winter weather comes is when the plows will come around.

They don't look forward to the beauty of fresh snow, building a fire outdoors, watching the wildlife, or laughing at the dogs going apeshit in the snow. For them, it's all about making a "disaster" out of something that's normal for the Midwest in January.

City relatives?

Some of them are true city folk, born and raised near the city. The ones that bug me are the ones raised in the country, but went to the city due to their work.

Seems like it takes about 10 years for the "transplants" to forget where they came from.

I'm in KCMO. If we get snowed in, I'm ready. I picked this guy up last year for these situations.

Sad thing to hear. That some people have forgotten about nature is better than a paycheck.

Nice to be prepared.

We're about a hundred miles east of you in the supposed heavy snow area. We'll wait and see what happens.

I never had a reason good enough to cause me to live near or in a city. I was perceptive enough when I was young to understand that it fundamentally changes your view of the world.

My area in southern Indiana is expecting anywhere from a dusting to an epic blizzard for the ages, depending on which channel you watch for the 6:00 news.

Quote:Well this life that I've lead has took me everywhere
There ain't no place I ain't never gone
But its kind of like the saying that you heard so many times
Well there just ain't no place like home
Did you ever see a she-gator protect her young
Or a fish in a river swimming free
Did you ever see the beauty of the hills of Carolina
Or the sweetness of the grass in Tennessee
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes

Do you like to see a mountain stream a-flowin'
Do you like to see a youngun with his dog
Did you ever stop to think about, well, the air your breathin'
Well you better listen to my song
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes

I'm not tryin' to put down no big cities
But the things they write about us is just a bore
Well you can take a boy out of ol' Dixieland
But you'll never take ol' Dixie from a boy
And Lord I can't make any changes
All I can do is write 'em in a song
I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
'Cause I can see the concrete slowly creepin'
Lord take me and mine before that comes
