As a suferer, I would be grateful for a cure. About once a year or two, this thing shows up on my lip. Common or not, I feel like a leper when it does. Fucking oozing bleeding horrid thing. I'm marked like a tainted whore.

The meds they have to shorten it work great, but still...horrid.

If you are bothered with cold sores ...
I read about this a few years back, and it works for me.
L-Lysine, about 500 mg several times a week. I use "County Life" brand, but I imagine any brand will do.

Since using this, I rarely get a cold sore any more; only if I have experienced extreme stress, and then if I take one when I feel it coming on, it generally zaps it before it develops into anything bothersome.

Ummmmm, what if they happen hold licenses in 2 allied health fields in the USA. Studied abroad in 3 different countries for one license, and they kind of HAVE to know this stuff to treat their patients.
Eyeroll
I read drug and vaccine test trials all the time.
I read research papers out of the USA, china and Japan.

HPV can be nuked to high heaven with Chinese herbs, and yet we subject people to a NEEDLESS vaccine that kills maims and sterilizes.

I've never had chicken pox (or herpes Eyeroll) , so when I worked on the ambulance, I HAD to knew everything about them in case we had a patient with it, as I could get very sick ftom exposure.

Same goes for HIV and Hepatitis and Tuberculosis.
Know your shit or DIE....

There's also an entire module on contagious diseases, venereal and other wise, on the NY state acupuncture BOARD exams.
We take board exams. Just like an MD.
I got 100% on that module from... Studying...

I'm not reading all that.

If you've had chicken pox or herpes, you are susceptible to getting shingles.
Drugs for one, will work to some degree, for any of the others.

I've had both. Shingles in 2006- right between my eyes on my forehead. Took Valtrex, but by the time it bothered me enough to go to the dr, it had spread to my left eye.

That must have sucked big time

The shingles really wasn't that bad, just kinda itchy. My left eye is the shit that keeps on giving. I'd be screwed without eye wash, which works really, really well.

There are so very many diseases that are brought in by present day migration and travel.

Every item you buy at the grocery store and bring home and put in your pantry or your refrigerator -- How do you know who has handled that item before you bought it? So it is not only the grocery cart itself, which you grasp as you wheel around the store, hoping that the previous person/persons did not have some contagious disease (I use the wipes when they are available), but who has been handling the items you buy?

And the gas nozzle you firmly grasp when you fill up your tank ...

And how about the kitchen help when you eat out? ...

... and the list goes on.

Amen, Amen, Amen! I wash my hands every time I handle packaging- between the food and the wrapper- even bread. I'm sure it's overkill, but you really *don't* know "where it's been", as my grandmother used to say.
How sad is it that we can't be secure that our grocery stores, food establishments ONLY hire legal US citizens with health certificates? And that our government can't provide us with security that *everyone* who comes into the country has been screened for health. (I don't really care, frankly, that international travel makes this cumbersome.

I haven't tried on clothes in a store in I don't know how long. One of the best things about mail order is that you can tell that it's straight from the manufacturer.
