Allegedly there was no pre-nup agreement so he is going to pay regardless if they get a divorce

I don't think anyone gives Harry enough credit. The general consensus is he fell for an ambitious vamp but you don't grow up royal and naive. I expect the end result will be Meghan moves out and Archie remains in the Auld Bitche's hands. Harry's going to rack up a lot of frequent flier miles. I don't envy Meghan one bit, reality sets in. Can't blame her for trying. I hope it works out for them and in the end, the only bad publicity is none.

But as an ordinary white Brit, I just have to say some things.

Please forgive the length of this post.

I do hope it explains some things to non-Brits and why we Brits are so so upset.

When Harry presented Meghan to us, I was actually overjoyed. My youngsters thought it was beyond cool. I thought he was a genius, what a fantastic thing that he wanted to marry a woman from a black and white family. What a great step forward for our very mixed nation, Royals that at last could represent everyone. And Royals that could genuinely chose exactly who they wanted to marry.

Everyone I knew and talked with was very positive and so glad that Harry had found love at last. Even anti-monarchists were charmed and approving.

I ignored all the questionable issues, making Kate and Charlotte cry, disrespecting staff, demanding special crowns, a string of staff resignations (everyone loved to work for Harry...).

Then there were the awful family problems which Meghan seemed to do nothing to heal.
Then there was the ghosting of family members and friends, the wedding crammed with flashy celebs that had no real deep connection to either of them, then the exhorbitant baby shower in NYC whilst this woke pair were deliberately oblivious to to the millions of austerity-ridden Brits homeless and/or forced to use foodbanks (for starters...and let's not forget there were all the holidays and weekends abroad - huge carbon footprints - whilst calling the rest of us out for wrecking the environment with our one or two weeks a year if we're lucky on our budget holidays in Spain in cram-packed cattle-class planes).

The pregnancy performances were a tad cringey but I overlooked them - women can do weird things when they're pregnant. As I did the absurd privacy thing about Archie's birth. Then the - frankly - whining about lack of privacy whilst actually encouraging the media attention with constant stories and then the demands for no photos etc etc.

Plus introducing Archie in South Africa and not to the British people...who were and will be paying for them in some way for perhaps years to come.

There was so much that I consciously overlooked. I hoped that they would settle down and get into their stride. Especially as Meghan had begun to highlight  issues that affected disadvantaged groups of women and people of colour. Together they had made a brilliant impact and were a great asset to the UK.

Then came the 'bombshell'. That's a word that is too often used by the media in making attention-grabbing emails.
But in this case it really was a bombshell - a sudden announcement with a string of expensive demands mostly in Americanese that they were kicking the Royal Family, and Britain, to the curb. They had better things to do making lots of $$$ off the back of their Royal positions.

I don't know if Americans can truly understand how very profoundly shocking and wounding this was to many or maybe most British people.

This was  Harry, our much loved Prince, so out of character, sticking his fingers up at us all....why? what had we done? What was different now than say 2 years ago?

Then there have been all the games and manipulations, deceits and, my God, even threats...to HM The Queen herself. HM is almost completely admired and respected here, even anti-monarchists concede that she's been a great queen and ambassador for the UK and the Commonwealth. She has done a fantastic, quite selfless job of being head of state here and in other countries as well as very successfully bringing the Commonwealth into being.

The Commonwealth encompasses and brings together and benefits c. 2.4 BILLION citizens. 2.4 BILLION is roughly as many as all the Catholics and Muslims in the world put together.

The vast majority of the people in the Commonwealth are people of colour. We are pleased and proud that we share a Queen with so many different cultures and colours.

And yet, Harry and Meghan accused us ordinary Brits and the RF of being ra - cist towards them personally. That was staggering,  a massive slur.

To get it straight, the largest majority of Brits aren't ra - cist. What they get upset about is people of any colour being cruel/ unkind/impolite/disrespectful of others and/or The Queen. Good manners do mean that much in Britain still. (And never think that our MSM or blogger trolls represent us. Just as in North America and elsewhere, the media is way off track and disconnected from ordinary people.)

And Royalty is a quantum leap away from celebrity as far as we are concerned. It may seem the same for a lot/most Americans but it's absolutely not. It's like Prince Harry just opted for a job as a trader in a tinsel, glitzy meat and veg market!

The worst thing of all is that Harry and Meghan totally disregarded The Queen's  request to not publish their manifesto and demands before the family could get together and talk about all the possibilities and arrangements. Such profound, defiant disrespect will not be forgotten for many years.

I understand completely now how people felt when Wallis Simpson provoked King Edward VIII's abdication. I understand why she is still loathed today. She took a much loved Prince and King away.

Over the last 48 hrs I've heard even passionate anti-Monarchists say how disgusted they are with Harry and Meghan's  disgusting, very ill-mannered behaviour. And then we found out that they were "plotting" their $$$empire for months and months and months, perhaps only a few months after they were married.

I fear that Harry and Meghan's astounding behaviour - NOT their needs and ambitions which they could and should have talked about with the RF long before they they ambushed us all - will consign them to a similar fate, as far as many of the people in the UK are concerned at least.

I fear most for Archie. Especially with parents who appear to be disconnected from family and troubled by mental health problems.

Thank you for reading this. I am more or less in mourning, like many Brits.

This lively, sparkling couple could have been at the epicentre of global Royalty as active supporters of HM, Charles and William and with their huge (2.4BILLION people) international mandate.

They stuffed themselves.

For all of us Brits, for the RF and for them, I remain gutted...

Indeed but it has been proven that Meghan never had any intention of giving up her acting career has she kept her high powered agents etc. It has been noted that she moved her company to Delaware just prior to the announcement.

Meghan isn't another Grace Kelly who was committed to her husband and family.
