That weight shown on the Olympic-style barbell looks to be about 250 pounds, or 110 Kg, IIRC. Whitaker is photographed in the middle of an Olympic-style lift. The first part was to heave the weight up to the position shown in one continuous motion and then stand up, stabilized. The next part is to heave the barbell upward and throw himself under it with arms extended, stabilizing the weight while kneeling or squatting. Then comes the difficult part, standing up to full height under the overhead weight. After the first and last steps of the lift are stabilized successfully, a judge will clap or whistle sharply signifying OK to go on. Finally the lifter just walks out from under the weight, letting it fall to the mat--hence the loud clangs heard around weight rooms.

I could do that about 50 years ago. That is quite impressive at his age. This Olympic "clean and jerk" lift requires skill as much as strength.

I just did a quick search and found:

Matthew Whitaker's troubling opinion: Judges need a biblical view

Editor's note: This column was originally published on May 4, 2014.

"I'd like to see things like their world view, what informs them. Are they people of faith? Do they have a biblical view of justice?"

— Matt Whitaker, during Iowa Family Leader debate

If elected to the U.S. Senate, former U.S. Attorney Matt Whitaker says he would only support federal judges who have a Biblical view, and specifically a New Testament view, of justice. "If they have a secular world view, then I'm going to be very concerned about how they judge," Whitaker said at an April 25, 2014, Family Leader debate.

Whitaker didn't return my call to his office, but as a lawyer, one might expect him to know that setting religious conditions for holding a public office would violate the Iowa and U.S. constitutions. He was effectively saying that if elected, he would see no place for a judge of Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, agnostic or other faith, or of no faith. Yet no one in the audience or on the podium seemed to have a problem with that, and his answer drew applause.

The debate venue had something to do with that. The event was sponsored by the Family Leader, the conservative Christian organization that engineered the ouster by voters in 2010 of three Iowa Supreme Court justices who ruled in favor of same-sex marriage. The moderator, blogger Erick Erickson, asked questions designed to compel the four Republican candidates to prove their Christian credentials. And though U.S. senator is a secular office, they mostly obliged.

Candidate Sam Clovis responded to Erickson's question about what criteria he would use to block President Obama's judicial nominees by saying he would vote for a judge who could link "natural law" to the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. Mark Jacobs said he would look for someone who would "not legislate from the bench." Joni Ernst echoed that view, adding the judge would need to understand that America's laws "all came from God."..

Oh Boy.

Granted I always look for the bad news first, but that's what's important ain't it?

I see nothing wrong with that, as it is totally in line with the thinking of our Founding Fathers:

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." ~ John Adams
“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. And kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And you will renew the face of the earth.”

The opposite of that blue gummed Loretta Lynch Devil's whore.

Some morals and ethics are a good thing contrary to the stupid suicidal soulless narrative the rest are pushing... A glib bland secular humanism.

I am 100% opposed to more of that crap. We see how the other side behaves already. No pesky conscience or bothersome morality or inconvenient empathy for those other than themselves.

At least a good Christian understands WHY other people matter. Compassion is a virtue. Honor is a virtue. Self-discipline is a virtue.

If President Trump gets on a roll of finishing everything he's started CNN will have an aneurysm, daily, until they explode.

7 MONTHS IS A LONG TIME

In other words, the president may direct anyone who holds a “PAS” office—one requiring presidential appointment and Senate confirmation—to serve as acting attorney general for 210 days (and potentially longer, depending upon when the president nominates someone to the position). And under the terms of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, the individual does not even have to be serving in the Justice Department at the time he or she is tapped to be acting attorney general; this person would just have to hold a Senate-confirmed position.

He was confirmed 10 years ago for a different position. Not eligible to be AG without senate confirmation.

Nap knows this and so should You .

Search the extra emphasized to get some idea of what could be going on .

Twitter snivels about Whitaker canning Muller to distance Trump from the decision are mere Wailings of the Hopeless .
