Kalafornication - Turn off the power for 5 to 7 days!
#21
I finally heard from my friend in Santa Rosa. I have been after her for years to get prepared but she always laughed and made jokes about me being an alarmist. I am hoping that this blackout may finally get her serious. I did not mail her a list of what she needed, made no recommendations. I figure this will be a good lesson learned. She said she has water and a flashlight plus a cell phone. Still debating on whether I should tell her to fill her bathtub so she can use that water for flushing the toilet and washing but after a few days of sitting in a hot smelly apartment she may start listening.

PGE is a large deep pocket corporation in trouble. Survival mode. Look them up and call any one of their contact phone #s. Report back when you get through to someone. We'll wait.

My friend in Cali sent me a not and said her electric was still on and the winds had not arrived yet. She said if people in the East can survive having the power out for days after a storm that she has confidence that she can also. I thought that was a great attitude.

Have some in-laws with no power out in Auburn. Was at a cpr/first aid thing yesterday and people were worried about it shutting off there. I'm thankful have another energy provider but it's windy here this morning.
When in doubt, roll the bones.

Heh. Funny thing. Had a brown out then the power went out at 1:am. How about that? I make a thread making fun of the Kalifornicators and I get it stuffed down my throat.

P.S. - Fumbling around trying to get back into bed in total darkness sucks.

That is a concern that many had because officials were saying upwards of a week. Also folks on breathing machines need power. I know they had shelter set up but none of the shelters advertised that they would have refrigeration.

People will die, of that I have no doubt, because of this.

More than 1.5 million people in Northern California are without power, some for a second day, as strong winds sweep through the region.
