Bless you too, @Beans! I love turtles, we have them here
but I've never seen one in the wild, either they're not that
common I guess or maybe shy and elusive.

Oh it's so sad...

Every year around the time winter breaks and spring starts, Turtles get smashed here like crazy.

It pisses me off, like how can you run over it?

I seriously will stop traffic and get out to pick up a turtle... and move her along...

It's the girl turtles looking for a spot to lay the eggs...

People honk their horns at me, but I just give them the finger, like what? Chuckle

Here is the most common turtle here...

And the feared Snapper... You got to be careful with these ones... Chuckle

There's a spot here over a creek that turtles try to lay their eggs at on the road by my house, and I have picked up and moved them many times over the years, last year a soft shelled got run over there before I could get it to another spot, it was at least 25 pounds, they look like this.

I saw a softshell for the first time in my life last summer WK...

It was crazy....

I was wary of this thing... I never saw one like it before.

So I grabbed a long twig and poked it... Chuckle

The thing jumped more than me when woke up... Jptdknpa

It darted off into the lake, never to be seen again.

But I'll never forget that... Chuckle

They have really good eyesight too, I walked up on a 40 pounder a couple years ago, and it was like a manhole cover shot into the river, they don't fukk around!

@Beans @Weasel Keeper Those are very nice pics, thank you
for sharing. So kind of you both to stop and/or move them out
of harm's way. And good for you @Beans for ignoring the
nincompoops!

I don't understand how people can just run over them especially
when it's probably not very difficult to avoid them. Really awful
imo.

Where my brother lives there are lots of rabbits darting
around the neighborhood and they move so fast it's very difficult
to avoid hitting them at times. :( But it does seem like turtles in
the road wouldn't be too difficult to manage, with a little time and
effort, and of course care.
