Not all of them of course.

I don't think I ever typed the word squirrel before. Took me a minute to figure it out.

Cute to some but, rats with fur in reality. Nothing wrong with a pet rat but, should be taken to a vet for examination, and then, kept out of the wild.

I think she is one of the baby squirrels I rescued from my dog a few years ago that were hiding in a rain gutter. She actually was the initiator of our friendly relationship when she was about a year old. I did not see her for over a year after our first season of her being very tame with me and was worried she  might have been killed by a human who she may have approached but she found me earlier this year in the back yard as I was taking pics of new terracing I had completed next door..

ANYHOO...She clearly has a bot fly situation going on in her left shoulder.

Does anyone know if it is possible for me to treat her to help her get through it?

She comes to me like a puppy looking for a treat, so nabbing her would be easy.

Gotta remove the larva. It will eat her inside out, get bigger.
Take her to a vet asap

I had a pet squirrel once named Julius. He slept on my chest while I was in bed, and would run circles around my head at work. I would let him sit on kids' shoulders when their parents were in the store.

I can tell you for sure they are in Wisconsin too. Northern Wisconsin at that!

Alternatively, while holding her, cover the entire area with vaseline. The maggot won't be able to breathe. This is why they surface. Then you can pick it easily with a tweezers

Here in the South you see them quite regularly, we called them "wolves". Lotsa times you will see squirrels after they have popped through, it leaves a really large sore but they recover from it. This is the reason a lot of folks don't hunt squirrel until really cold weather.

I have befriended wild animals to help them with injuries and sickness.

Do not allow your emotions for the animal to cause you to not take personal safety precautions

If the squirrel will allow you to pick it up, make sure you wear gloves that go way up your arms. Past your elbows.

One bite and you may be getting rabies shots injected hypodermically into your stomach.

Just be careful. I have cared for wild animals before. And saved a number of beautiful lives in the process.
