Homemade Flour Tortillas

You kinda have to roll them out a little and then toss them back and forth between hands like a pizza man.

Here is the recipe my mom used. She made them every day. It is slightly adapted because she did not measure everything, but I watched her and well here:

3 cups sifted flour
1 1/2 - 2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
≈1/3 cup (handful) manteca (snow-cap)
≈3/4 cup warm water. (You don't want the dough too wet and sticky, so add water a little at a time, lastly.)

Mix by hand, knead a little, pull off a little ball and roll it out. That is the hard part like you said.

Makes them easy to cook if you have this:

You can just grab the edge and flip it by hand without burning your fingers off.

Makes approx. 18  6-7 inch diameter.

Grab some butter or roasted, peeled green and eat 12 while cooking.
