They have all the money in the world.

ya, you would think so!  I'm surprised they can attract talent when they face the prospect of living in a trailer and going to the bathroom in the great outdoors.
I had no idea the housing prices had skyrocketed there, I guess they raised them when Google came, that seems to be how it is, everybody gets greedy.
Like when the economy is booming, the landlords take any benefit away by raising the rent to match whatever income increase you get.

well... i would actually live like that just to be able to work at a company that is at the very frontline of technology. technology that might change the world as we know it. consider the amazing projects you might be able to work on.

A coworkers sister in law lives in an RV in the parking lot of a Hobby lobby out there.
Her, her husband and 4 kids...All stuffed in an RV.

She wants to move to Texas, my coworker told her as long as you don't vote democrat.

I can't imagine living in a shopping center parking lot.

California is being turned into a third world country. It's reminding me of the film Elysium...where the rich are in space supported by the poor Mexican/white corrugated shack dwelling radiation factory workers.

If you speak Spanish and have a criminal record, California will let you in.

All I can say is years ago the SOP for qualifying for a home mortgage was your monthly payment could not exceed the limit of 30% of your monthly income, so this pretty much falls in that realm.

NOW,  lets look at the average monthly income of the average citizen?  YUP! no comparison,
SO, all I can say is "POOR" babies having to still have over 10K a month left over when most don't see even a 1/4 of that a month.

Many buy camper trucks and park them for free in the Co parking lot. They eat in the many Google cafeterias, for free, and shower in the google gyms. The smart ones bank big money monthly.

Snip
One "guy lived in the camper for two to three years. Showered at the gym. Did his laundry on campus. Ate every meal on campus he could. After the two to three years, he had saved up enough money to buy a house."
