Kentucky governor apologizes for saying teachers' strike left children vulnerable to harm, sexual assault and drugs

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/15/politics/...index.html

This is one of my little Fake News pet peeves.

In this case, the teacher Union in Kentucky went Apeshit because
1. The Pension plan for teachers has a 41 billion $$ hole.   To fix it, they passed changes to the plan....that do not affect any currently employed or retired teacher.    But the Union didn't like the idea that the perk was getting reduced in the future.
2. The legislature passed record levels of spending on education, and the Governor tried to shit-can the massive increases.

...So the teachers go out on strike and all head to the State Capital of Kentucky....(which we all know is Lexington? No...Louisville.....no...Whiskey Holla' ...no...it's Frankfort).

so the Gov says because you shut down the schools and walked out, some kid was left at  home alone because mom was working...and they were exposed to being sexually abused, or starving, or smoking weed...or whatever.

So...the liberal press explodes in an outrage!  how dare he blame the teachers by making up some huge negative effect and claiming it might happen!

But....think about all the times  you've heard that a cut in the growth rate of a program by a republican is equal to -   killing black children, killing the old, is racist hate.  That Republicans want old people to die.

The left can make any absurd claim they want, and nobody ever calls them on it.

They are not fooling me with their fake outrage.

The teachers' unions are a major part of the Democratic machine,
at least in CA. I'd imagine they are in other states as well.

Major hypocrisy here for sure though I must say the Governor's
words were a bit harsh and unduly condemning of ordinary families.

Governor Bevin would make an excellent President one day. His words were a bit harsh, but there is also truth in them. I hate to see him cave in and apologize to these liberals. They treat property tax like it's their own little slush fund. Meanwhile, the kids get a daily dose of marxist brainwashing with nary a word of disagreement from that union.
Get over it or die mad.

Not so much condemning of ordinary families than of the strike itself.

You should get it right.

Their real outrage lies in the fact that they want the same benefits as were offered earlier even though they're 41$ billion in the hole. That's why they're truly outraged. The governor is just a lighting rod for it.

Emo-outrage is getting so old coming from the teachers' unions. How can we value teachers when they continuously produce a failed product. No its not the children who are failed products, its their level of being able to function and do simple basic things like reading, math, science, and history. That doesn't seem to bother them, its all about the money per usual.

The other thing that the liberal press never reported was that no current teachers were affected by the changes to the pensions. They made it seem like teachers were walking out because their pensions were being taken from them.

I did see it reported correctly that the budget was going to be spending record amounts on education, I've not been able to find out, did the Governor's plan still increase spending (but just at a lower growth level, or did it actually cut something. But that is now moot because the legislature overrode the Governor's veto of the spending.

It's impossible to get facts from reporting now
