7 Proven Benefits of Mormon Tea
https://www.organicfacts.net/health-bene...n-tea.html

Includes this:

" ... How to Make Mormon Tea?

It is quite easy to make Mormon tea at home, and only requires the proper variety of Ephedra plant and hot water! It is important to select the proper species, as true Mormon tea only comes from Ephedra nevadensis, and is one of the safest varieties of this herb. .."

Much more at the link.  I also see it is native to western North America, so I will try to get some of this for my garden !!  Cheer

Thank you @WhiteAngel , however I see it is a desert plant, and its needs are just about opposite of what we have here.

" ... Growing Information: Ephedra Nevadensis requires a well-draining soil, preferably with a high sand content. Sow your seeds at a depth of about 1/8″-1/4″ and keep warm. Germination has a natural tendency to be a bit irregular but can begin in as early as two weeks if conditions are right. Ephedra nevadensis is a desert plant and so will enjoy plenty of sunlight. The soil does not necessarily need to remain dry as long as there is no standing water. Sprouts resemble grass, and may be slow to grow once started. Just remember that this is a desert plant, and as such it tends to take its time. ..."

I've looked it up, though, and it is available in a lot of places locally including at a couple of our healthy foods stores.

I use plain old sugar and not very often as my sugar jar contains clumps. I'm not a sweets fan (except some ice cream once in awhile is my downfall - can't give up the ice cream).
