This grows in our area and my wife adds some to MY tea and it seems to do many things for me, and NOPE i don't have any std's LOL it has many other uses and one of those is for asthma, so I thought i would pass this along in case you have access to it and wished to ad some to your tea.

Medicinal use of Mormon Tea:
This plant has a wide reputation as a cure for syphilis. A strong decoction of the stems was drunk and a poultice of the pulverized or boiled stems applied to the sores. The stems are blood purifier, diuretic and tonic. An infusion has been used in the treatment of coughs and colds, anaemia, rheumatism, stomach ulcers and other disorders, kidney problems. The dried, powdered stems are used as a dressing on sores and burns. The stems of most members of this genus contain the alkaloid ephedrine and are valuable in the treatment of asthma and many other complaints of the respiratory system. The whole plant can be used at much lower concentrations than the isolated constituents - unlike using the isolated ephedrine, using the whole plant rarely gives rise to side-effects. Ephedra does not cure asthma but in many cases it is very effective in treating the symptoms and thus making life somewhat easier for the sufferer. The stems can be used fresh or dried and are usually made into a tea, though they can also be eaten raw. The young stems are best if eating them raw, though older stems can be used if a tea is made. The stems can be harvested at any time of the year and are dried for later use.

"Stems are a blood purifier".
That is interesting, and probably very important information.

Do you know that Splenda has been found in water supplies across the usa.
Major city reservoirs ?
No explanation to how it got there.
Really cannot be filtered out..

Our sewers a filled with it and then the water treatment plants can't get rid of it.  All those pills everyone flushes down the toilet???  We are drinking those too.

I went from city water to a well. What a difference!
I can't pinpoint the major change factor because there were so many elements of change, in a move out of a suburb.

Less cell signal
Less stress
Less noise
Less pollution
Clean air (till fire season)
Clean water
Local grown food/meats

It was very difficult to buck the system. It cost alot but I think it was well worth it. Church going retired folk here, very white, very polite. But-
They are bussing homeless here from Tacoma. I was touched for $ when I went to the grocery store last time. There is now always some crap going on at safeway/starbucks/walmart area. They are putting in low rent housing in that section too. I stay away as much as possible.
Exporting shithole problems and philosophy to my good home. I hate it.

Dang it, I do not mean to derail this good thread on sweeteners, but it did seem like one piece of the big picture puzzle. It is one more factor to deal with to living a good life, and they hide it in things like vitamin gummies, which makes it creepy and insidious.

Drank lots of diet Dew, which is aspartame, which is only slightly better than Splenda but still poison and just gave it up.  I'd hoped that by giving it up the asthma might go away, it all started up about the time I gave up regular Pepsi, which I had been drinking since high school and wanted to lose weight.  Thought I was doing a good thing for short term but.....lol got addicted to that too.  So far asthma is still there, but only been a week.  Might take a few months -- if that was the problem.

Now, Stevia and erythritol seem to be an okay blend to make my iced teas taste good.  Stevia alone has an after taste I just can't handle and erythritol is too expensive on its own so I use a little of both with my tea and it seems to be working.  I take two black tea bags, two green tea bags and 3 flavored tea bags (right now I am really liking the wild berry), let them brew for an hours and fill up 2 liter bottle and keep in the fridge for me to drink all day.  It is strong, put over ice and half water - there ya go.

For baking, from now on, just regular sugar.  The artificial crap is killing us.

Yes!! Truvia brand has a nasty aftertaste to me. The Publix brand has NO aftertaste to me and is cheaper!

Derailing? I don't think so. I too believe it is all apart of the big picture and this is why so many of these types of threads get derailed in the first place. We can all see the links to other things being done to us on purpose or by accident --- doesn't matter which one in the long term.

I tried growing my own, drying it and then powdering it. There was an after taste.

I had to look up what that is.
Apparently the stuff has been deemed safe for consumption in the EU in 2004, with the caveat that it should not be heated above 120C
because it can produce dioxines and dibenzofurane. I´ve never seen it being sold anywhere and I would not expect anyone to buy it.

Splenda is the brand name, while sucralose is the chemical.

Use sugar.

I went from well water to city water. You can smell the chlorine, it's sickening. It tastes wrong. All wrong.

It is awful.

I want to go back to my country home.
