divided we fall......

this is an excellent article.....

excerpt..................

It would be nice to think that our current crisis could be solved by getting rid of President Trump. But if he were driven from office and forced into exile at Mar-a-Lago, the conditions that created the crisis would still be with us. There’s no quick fix to a problem that has been half a century in the making.

Thanks to the Constitution’s checks and balances, a president alone can’t fix the republic any more than he can destroy it. Only a new surge of progressive patriotism, modeled on the one that took hold a century ago, can save our democracy. Like the wise patriots of the Gilded Age, the progressive patriots of the twenty-first century will have to rebuild the bedrock of economic opportunity, stone by stone: a fair tax system, tougher financial regulations, more investments in education and infrastructure. The foundations of participatory democracy must also be rebuilt, by liberalizing election laws and enabling more Americans to vote. Only then can we hope to rediscover a sense of common purpose that the Founding Fathers knew was a prerequisite for their experiment to succeed.

It sounds impossible, of course. Donald Trump’s in the White House. Anti-government, trickle-down conservatives dominate Congress, the courts, and most state legislatures. How can we even dream about reversing such entrenched inequality, or of healing our seemingly bottomless social rifts?

Our hope rests partly in our history. Hard as it is to believe, we have been here before. We’ve stared into a dark future in which the Constitution no longer functions, in which democracy is replaced by oligarchy or tyranny. But wise patriots found a way to adapt. It took more than one election, one candidate, one party. A crisis decades in the making will take decades to resolve.

Our greatest hope, ironically, rests in the very ferocity of our political climate. Trump wasn’t elected because conservative voters are unaware that America is in a mortal crisis. A socialist like Bernie Sanders didn’t almost upend the Democratic establishment because liberals felt that everything was fine under President Obama. The American people might not think of what we’re experiencing as a “constitutional crisis,” but they understand what their leaders have failed to recognize: The system does not work anymore. Something radical has to happen. This knowledge, above all, is one thing that the citizens of our deeply divided country still have in common.

Here's the problem with that whole fucking waste of words of an article you posted.

progressive patriotism

There is no such critter. It all comes from the Social Justice Warrior school of Cultural Marxism. Every last demented anti-Constitutional, anti-family, anti-sanity thought of it.

The same people pushing this tripe are the same people who think we should be accepting of pedophilia as just another sexual orientation.

There is only Patriotism which means staunch defense of the Constitution as written. This should be easy for everyone to figure out due to the fact that the geniuses that wrote it, wrote it to be understood. It is in plain English and means exactly what it says as an organic whole.

This also means you can't use parts of the Constitution to invalidate other parts. If you are trying to do that, then you need to go back and re-read the document in question.

Another interesting tidbit for you to chew on, the entire Constitution is anti-government. The founders certainly were.

The Constitution describes an extremely limited government. One with extremely specific delinted duties. Read the document, where is the jurisdiction for central banks, permanent taxes on our wages, a standing army, and the IRS? It's not in there because it's a legislative end around and usurpation of power.

The whole article is a whining communist manifesto of big central government controlling everything from cradle to grave.

Certain points of the article are easy to agree with, but why does it have to start out by mentioning getting rid of Trump? An even bigger question, why, out of all the statements made in the article did you choose only to bold the sentence about getting rid of Trump?

President Trump was elected by the American voters. Since that moment, many Dems have whined, complained and demanded he be removed. They have become out-right aggressive and violent about it. Meanwhile, Trump begins to come through with his campaign promises and even achieves greater results in some cases. He hasn't been in office two years yet and already he has achieved amazing results and his popularity continues to climb.

I could agree with almost everything in the article except for the way it was introduced. Trump is doing more to fix the things outlined than any President in my lifetime. Would Hillary have fixed all those things? Bernie?

I actually now realize what the article meant. It's leftist propaganda for leftist readers. In other words, if the Dems don't get their own act together, then yeah, they sure as hell will fall.

He's doing that to passive aggressively troll me into banning him again so he can go whine on other forums about how abusively I power trip over being an admin stifling the 'anti-Trump' crowd.

Oh I know. When I first joined up, I enjoyed a few of his posts, but even as an outsider, I was quickly able to see his agenda. I normally wouldn't say this about anyone, but I have no respect at all for this man. He pokes and pokes until he gets scolded, then he whimpers like a whipped pup. No fuckin' backbone at all. And I don't care for "men" who have no spine.

to start with....the highlight is not in there because it didnt exist back then.....it was added by the elite in the 20 th century to control society....and its been made worse by the current government.... taxes have been lifted on the elite and put on the shoulders of the poor....there were no central banks, there were no taxes.... the communist manifesto is the censoring of common sense issues and the feeding of the "good" that is being done, with no mention of the harms inflicted on humanity and the america worker

I did go to the article and no, that's not the title. The title is "Divided we fall". You just happened to skip down to the end, the "kill shot" and chose to copy that part and yes, you bolded it when you pasted it.

this is my thread on another forum........

i would just like to clarify something, .... i was accused of coming here to whine .....

i did NOT intend that to be a whining ..FAR FROM IT !!

i apologize to those who got that out of the thread (which unfortunately is closed)...

i have never been banned in my 9 years of posting in forums....(and its not GLP)
but in another forum, i have been banned by a mod ... who is supported by others, for speaking out against trump.... for stating my opinion, with no vulgar language and no malicious intent ....

this is a scary reflection of what trump stands for.

whether he is good or not for america and the civilized world ,..... this should be a warning of trump supporters attitude .....

im sure not all are the same, but its the ones that act this way that scare me the most.....

i have been attacked and ridiculed and have defended myself civilly but have still been banned and have no recourse until i am allowed back in.....

the intent was to question, and point out, a form of censorship and that was all !

i do hope people can see this and again i do apologize for giving the wrong impression .....

but even now i cant defend myself..... you are so scared of me all you can do is close my threads
