I think ya' got a goldmime worth of ideas in the C&B, Daj.  I know you're not concerned with makinh a profit from it, but, hell, you could make it the first (?) open-source fantasy world (maybe it already is  Ponder )!
Tempted to learn the origins of the Pooh.  Was unfamiliar with its origin story...

C~B has as much potential as the 100 acre woods or Wonderland, as far as I'm concerned  (and you're probably a lot less of a creepy character than Lewis Carroll allegedly was, Daj  Chuckle ) Yeah3

Well, we've been doing this schtick for 11+ years. Chuckle We DO have a wee fantasy world, for those willing to play and get in the spirit of things ~ it unleashes creativity and allows us to do things in the virtual we could never hope to do in the real. It's a fun mode of expression for peeps. I appreciate each and every patron that visits, but I absolutely ADORE the ones who roll their own doobie of the C&B play land and share with others.

Yanno ~ it's never scripted and folks just let their imaginations take off.

It's truly a joy!

G'morning all!

I was just thinking about this environment here, and it occurred to me that I didn't know how the C&B changed from a local saloon to an outpost in the back country. And I've never known what Krugers are.

Somehow, this has never bothered me cuz I'm used to the idea that there is something going on in the world that has a backstory with which I'm unfamiliar.

Fritzy, you've been a patron for a great deal of it. I've done origin summaries before, lemme see if I can do a quicky for ya'.

The C&B started in March of 2006 as a virtual tavern thread at GLP. We could only post links then, but the thread was tremendously popular ~ we'd go the whole weekend long in a non-stop thread, 60 pages common. (iirc, 30 posts to a page.) We also did other forums concurrently, The Veranda, Kennedy's, and Seadog's. We took a bit of a break but did post at GLP off/on and stumbled into Lop during the Super Bowl Purge. They saw me post and asked me to toss up a C&B thread to be a familiar landmark to all the 100's of refugees that were pouring in. We kept it up. We could post pics directly in the thread by that time and the mod staff were incredibly supportive of the thread. D even mad a sub-forum for us to archive all the threads and the artwork.

The Lop environment fostered a great community of patrons. But, as the crowd dwindled and the tone of the forum changed we moved over to ION, but it didn't last too long. We also re-framed the tavern artwork and generated new story lines at that time. I eventually opened my own forum for the tavern and while it was very well received when it opened, patron attendance was minimal. After a few years (?)

I got weary of dedicating Wed & Fri nites with no patrons playing so I shuttered the place until contacted early last summer about coming to The Fringe.

We scaled back to operating out of an old, rusted Ford F100 (1950 model, I think) pickup truck pushed up behind a strip mall in Fingeland.

The Krugers are gnomes we captured during the Battle of Up Shit's Creek ~ when GLP & Lop were feuding and Trinity was being an ass. (He'd troll the C&B.) The gnomes underwent the Stockholm syndrome and now love the C&B patrons. You pretty much know everything about them, re: behaviours, talents, et.al..

Of course the 'story' has developed. We've had adventures, scandals and tangles with the authorities & neighbours.

The adventures really are too numerous to recall. Chuckle But if there is something you're dying to figure out regarding the C&B, just ask ~ I'll either have the answer or make something up. V6sRZf4
