I hope internet archaeologists 500 years from now crack their asses up reading Fringe commentary like this Chuckle

Well it could have been one hell of a lot worse...

The device only partially ignited so just a flash fireball engulfed a tube train carriage - no-one killed most injuries are not serious or life changing.

The device was left largely intact so DNA and finger prints are a likely find - London Tube system is possibly THE place with the most heavy surveillance on Earth - so the dude/s will be on camera with a very distinctive bag...

The police sound confident that they are "making good progress, but do not wish to tell the public what that progress is while the investigation closes in"...

I reckon they know who it is already and MI5 are probably finding where he goes, who he speaks with, where he's been and then moves in on the whole cell in synchronised raids (either tonight or early tomorrow) - then there may be more arrests in following days, as the first ones throw up more evidence and links to follow.

ETA: I wasn't anywhere near a gadget until about 18:00 my time - so you guys knew about it before I did!

This picture was taken just after the train was evacuated - still burning at the back:

Another lucky thing is it was an open carriage train and it had reached the station so all the doors could be opened immediately.

All kidding aside it sure could have. The main charge (the total kablooey part) didn't go off and I am sure it was filled with nails and other nasty shrapnel.

Big enough to kill a lot of people and horrifically wound even more.

Yeah

The number in hospital could be the number dead...
The number treated at the roadside could be the number in hospital...

Worse still, police believe it may have gone off prematurely - if it went off as the train was at full speed it could have derailed deep in a tunnel - and the back carriage was filled with school kids going to school.
