BREAKING! North Korean hostages released and on the way home
#51
Tony Kim's colleagues confirm he had been living in China for a decade and a half until he quit his job in March 2016.

"Kim Sang-duk, who also goes by Tony Kim, worked at China's Yanbian University of Science and Technology (YUST), on the Chinese border with North Korea, for "many years," according to spokeswoman Choi Maehwa.

"...the former co-worker said Kim, in his 50s, had lived with his wife on campus for a decade-and-a-half before quitting in March, 2016. They also said the couple lived with two sons who had attended a local international school before moving to the U.S. to pursue a college education."

AS I SAID ...... the hostage release is insignificant ... in the scope of things !!

SEOUL — North Korea is rapidly moving the goal posts for next month’s summit between leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump, saying the United States must stop insisting it “unilaterally” abandon its nuclear program and stop talking about a Libya-style solution to the standoff.

The latest warning, delivered by former North Korean nuclear negotiator Kim Gye Gwan on Wednesday, fits Pyongyang’s well-established pattern of raising the stakes in negotiations by threatening to walk out if it doesn’t get its way.

This comes just hours after the North Korean regime cast doubt on the planned summit by protesting joint air force drills taking place in South Korea, saying they were ruining the diplomatic mood.

If the Trump administration approaches the summit “with sincerity” for improved relations, “it will receive a deserved response from us,” Kim Gye Gwan, now vice foreign minister, said in a statement carried by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency on Wednesday.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows how NK negotiates. They don't. I don't expect this to go anywhere. After they get their shipment of food they will go back to their old ways, like they always have. But we did get some hostages freed.

NKorea suspends talks with South, threatens to cancel US summit
US State Department says it's moving ahead with planned Trump-Kim meeting in Singapore in June despite North's warning.

North Korea said it was suspending high-level talks with South Korea scheduled for Wednesday because of US-South Korean military exercises, which it said threatened warming ties on the divided peninsula.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) also cast doubt on whether next month's summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump would go ahead as planned, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported.

"This exercise, targeting us, which is being carried out across South Korea, is a flagrant challenge to the Panmunjom Declaration and an intentional military provocation running counter to the positive political development on the Korean Peninsula," Yonhap quoted KCNA as saying.

"The United States will also have to undertake careful deliberations about the fate of the planned North Korea-U.S. summit in light of this provocative military ruckus jointly conducted with the South Korean authorities."
