College scam mastermind Photoshopped students’ faces onto athletes: prosecutors

The college prep expert who masterminded a nationwide admissions scandal that was publicly revealed Tuesday helped parents set up bogus pictures of their kids playing sports — and even Photoshopped teens’ faces onto stock photos of athletes to help them fraudulently get recruiting slots on teams at elite schools, prosecutors allege.
One of William “Rick” Singer’s preferred scams to get the kids of his bribe-paying clients into the schools of their choice was to funnel a cut to college coaches, who would fast-track the students for admisssion using their designated recruiting slots, officials said.
And they didn’t let the fact that some of the teens had never even played competitive sports get in their way, allegedly staging — or outright creating — bogus photos of them in action to make their applications seem legitimate to any skeptical eyes, prosecutors said.
“In many instances, Singer helped parents take staged photographs of their children engaged in particular sports,” Massachusetts US Attorney Andrew Lelling said in a Tuesday press conference. “Other times, he used stock photos, sometimes Photoshopping the face of the child on the athlete, and submitting it.”

Isn't this entire scandal really the result of Affirmative Action....especially in California.

Since merit is not used to place people in College, but rather seats are reserved for non-Whites, you have a huge number of white people forced to compete for a spot in a University, knowing that actually being academically superior and scoring higher on a test will not get you in.

So...on the one hand if a bunch of California liberals, who gave us the crooked rotten Affirmative Action College admission system in the first place just follow their immoral instincts..they resort to pay-offing and bribing their way into the crooked rigged system they devised in the first place.

This is exactly how they are going to setup your Health Care before much longer. Your money will go to pay for the socialized crap system, with the crappy care and limited options and lousy facilities...and they will just bribe and pay-out to access the privileged system.

Liberals suck.

It's quite egregious, no doubt. Especially the SAT and
ACT officials who were involved which I find most
troubling. The link in the OP where Loughlin's daughter
is boasting of her upcoming "photo shoot" (I guess the one
pretending she is/was an athlete) and how she "definitely
(wants the college party experience)" but cares little
for school is nauseating.

However I find it difficult to get overly exercised about this
in the large scheme of things, as bad as it is admittedly is.

There has never been parity in higher American education.
Legacies and those who can simply foot the bill have always
been the bread and butter of not only the ivies but many
colleges and Us. Not difficult to imagine what goes on in the
closed admissions panels, given the results that are plain for all
to see.

Scholarship/slot recipients that are admitted solely on the
basis of skin color, illegals who displace citizens (and get free
rides to boot), Chinese national students who deny Californians
their rightful enrollment in the UC system (again solely because
they can pay), the list goes on and on and on.

I do wonder what these kids (would) do once they get in on their
ersatz athletic ability. Of course the jig would soon be up as
far as their lack of skills. Do they get to remain enrolled? Surely
they would be dismissed from their teams at the very least.

And on that note though this is getting to be a long post, the
athletic angle can't be dismissed when we're talking about the
lack of opportunity that exists across the board in American higher
education. What of all the college athletes who have zero or
at least negligible academic prowess but are there simply because
they bring in the donor contributions and other related monies
to the institutional coffers?

As far as the University of California system goes, the best test scores and grades in math and science belong to Asians. Whites are in the second seat. But, not being white, minorities other than Asians will be highly critical of Asians privately but, not publically. I've herd comments from Millennial students like, all they do is study, and, they have no social life..it's not fair. They screw up the GPAs for the rest of us. Given that situation, whites are targeted.

College-entrance case ensnares Obama family’s tennis instructor

A college tennis coach who also served as the personal instructor for former first lady Michelle Obama and her daughter, Malia, was among the 46 people charged by federal authorities in a sweeping college admissions bribery case announced Tuesday.

According to the indictment unsealed Tuesday by federal prosecutors in Massachusetts, Gordon Ernst, the women’s tennis coach at the University of Rhode Island, is accused of conspiracy to commit racketeering during the years he served as a tennis coach at Georgetown University.

[b]There is no suggestion that Malia, a sophomore at Harvard, was implicated in the scandal in any way.[b]

I wonder how Malia got into Harvard?

Maybe Harvey Weinstein paid for her college.
