My daughter took in a stray after Matthew. He had gotten lost and was hungry but turned out to be a great dog. No one claimed him so they kept him.
I remember Floyd. I was in Lenoir county and the news was full of stranded pets.
Reflective tape on their collars...Pics and medical records in your bag just in case. For light colored dogs, write their name and your number with permanent marker on their bellies.

A couple of years ago a tropical storm was passing through and when it first started to rain I had to go check on something. On my way back I saw a dog looking lost so I turned around and followed him. He was then in a small ditch, I stopped and tried to get him to come with me. He ran off, and as I tried to follow him I noticed someone in a car watching me. I no longer saw the dog, and I think the person in the car was suspicious of me, they started to follow me, like I was a dognapper. Maybe it was their dog, I don't know. The storm wasn't so bad, so I figured the dog made it ok. Sometimes animals act afraid when you are trying to help them.

Cats are NOTORIOUS for this. If you think you might have a stranded cat problem in your neighborhood, put food nd clean water outside in a safe place. My neighbor is going to her mom's so I'll be checking on her cats when it is safe for me to go out.

Where I go, Delly goes. Period.
If Delly can't go, it is not a place worth going.

Same.... I’d never abandon an animal.

If they are stuck in a storm, so am I!!

I wouldn't go anywhere without my mice, cat, and husband...
In that order.
