Any Archers on the Fringe?
#11
Oh yeah, 3D is even cooler, walk the targets just like golf.

Then the girl says, yep I have to shoot a deer now and cut it all up so I can show my kids, WTF'n fuck!? Must be one of those sapphire kids, blond and clear blue eyes and has their life planned out.

Haven't had a bow in my hands in years, maybe it's time to re-visit the old hobby.

Not the same but how about slinging arrows from a wrist rocket? It’s all the rage on YouTube these days and much more compact and no string twang on the forearms. Could be a good SHTF skill to learn.

I still have my two childhood bows, a small red longbow probably 15lbs and a regular green longbow 35lbs
then in 20s, 30s I did go to a couple indoor archery ranges but never got into the crossbow or fancy compound bows.

My college sport (Recurve). Later, fun with Compounds.

If you have a local Archery club or Bow Hunters group in your area, take her to visit. She needs proper Draw length (arm length) and weight for her size and success. Sighting must be comfortable..ie, she must be able to hold the Bow String comfortably at her cheek/jaw for a time.

The stuff on this page seems pretty correct.

"If I had a dollar for every child that showed up at one of my youth archery camps or lessons who was "over bowed", or had the wrong size bow for their actual draw length, I could afford a two week vacation in the Bahamas.
Countless hours have been lost re-educating parents on this one topic alone when the time should have been spent teaching how to shoot.
The bottom line is...
The bow MUST be properly sized for the archer or the experience will be physically painful, frustrating and an expensive loss."

Have fun, max

I shot 30+ 3D events every year and hunted extensively with a bow for at least 30 years.
I still have all my equipment and I'll pull it out again one day.....

Awesome bloke!

My dad didn't put one in my hand, my mum did, after I came back from a 2 night camp with school I said Mum I archery, Chistmas I had my own. 40 yrs later the bug has never left. Plenty of years off but it sits in the back yr mind. Its very cool.

I have a setup for my Wrist Rocket for arrows. Shot many squirrels with it. It's a ton of fun

How does it compare power wise? Same, even, better?

Awesome, teach her a skill that won't ever be out of style!

I shoot, and have made some pvc bows recently.

They are done in the style of mongolian horse bows. Awesome for target shooting in the back yard.
