While back in March of 2018, Time put out this story titled "The World Is Heading For A Food Security Crisis: Here's How We Can Avert It" within which they reported that by the year 2050, with the world's population expected to reach nearly 10 billion by then, the global food supply will be under tremendous stress, every day we get more indications we may reach that breaking point decades before then.
