Massacre of U.S. citizens aims spotlight at Mormon community with deep roots in Mexico

Some of the victims shared the last name LeBaron. They were related to a prominent fundamentalist Mormon family by the same name, said Daniel LeBaron, a cousin of one of the victims, Rhonita Maria Miller. Daniel LeBaron lives in Colonia LeBaron in Chihuahua state, a community established by fundamentalist Mormons in 1944 that has close ties to the LeBarons of Bavispe.

The LeBarons are among “a handful of major groups of fundamentalists,” said Patrick Mason, a historian of Mormonism at Utah State University. But, he added: “The LeBaron name in recent decades has been most often linked to violence. Unfortunately, this incident only adds to that association.”

Put the military on the border, properly. Any country would do that, no idea why the apparent world super power won’t do it? Stop bombing the Middle East countries and focus on your own borders.. put the money and soldiers there.

Simple.

Spend the money on the homeless crisis..

It's because these lunatic dems have controlled the country so long they fight to literally have open borders at this point to bring in voters to keep themselves from losing power.

We're trying to put a stop to it, but they're trying to take our president and our votes away from us with this impeachment BS.

It's SO frustrating.

To have to fight your own supposed fellow citizens in order to keep our nation sovereign is a lot harder than our nightmares have led us to believe. These nutjobs have been full on in power approx 70 years now and it's looking like if they don't succeed in their endeavor to remove our President and cancel our votes they might actually try to kill him instead of just threatening it like they've been doing for near 3 years now.

If our Commander in Chief were to order troops to the border these looney tune dems would find any way they could to stop it.

If they lay a finger on him I fear there will be blood in the streets of America...justifiably.

In all my years of following politics here in the US, I have NEVER seen anything like this before.

Our President is TRYING to put a stop to things in the mid east and the lunatic dems fight him on it. No matter what he does they claim it is wrong and he's being a dictator. Meantime, they're the dictators ... they're like a cult trying to dictate their self serving agenda on the American people. It's sick. They're sick. They have no cares for this nation or its citizens. They care only for their own pockets and power.

Facepalm

(don't get me wrong there are reps - RINOS who are as dirty as the DEMS, but even the RINOS are seemingly disgusted by the lunatics dems on the left at this point)

Maybe I should've put this here instead, but it fits both places. https://the-fringe.com/thread-republican...pid1015811

Wonder why.

They can trace mad cow disease back to a single farm in Canada, but they can't find a single undocumented illegal alien.

They allow them to run free in this country; the way it used to be for us Americans.  They get all the free stuff they want.

Know why they can't find any illegal aliens?  They aren't looking for them.

After they become deer licks, and they vote for our leaders, they don't need them until the next election.

But if they documented any of these deer licks, we'd be able to prove with a paper trail that these people are not eligible to be voting for our criminal syndicate leaders.  So that's why they remain undocumented and they might as well come in droves across an open border.

As long as our leaders keep getting reelected, they won't have to stand in front of a judge or serve any jail time.

So if somebody like Trump comes along as ruins their parade, then they have to impeach him, because the swamp will get drained.

And ironically, they can't find any illegal doings on Trump, just like they can't find any illegal aliens.

I read that the Mormon "group" (which is of course a cult) has
been "at war" with the cartels.

Seems to me they unnecessarily put their children in harm's way,
and put their cult before their kids which really isn't all that
surprising.

I saw that, very strange indeed. How on earth did Raniere even
know of this outposted sect? Or perhaps the group solicited him?
So odd. I was shocked to learn (when the murders took place)
that these communities even existed in Mexico.

Mexican Town Prepares Funerals for 9 Slain Americans

LA MORA, Mexico (AP) — Under a strong security presence, the remote farming community of La Mora, Mexico prepared to hold the first funerals Thursday for some of the nine American women and children killed by drug cartel gunmen.

Dozens of high-riding pickups and SUVS, many with U.S. license plates from as far away as North Dakota, bumped across dirt and rock roads over desert, arid grasslands and pine-covered mountains Wednesday as night fell on this community of about 300 people. Many of the residents are dual U.S. and Mexican citizens who consider themselves Mormon but are not affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

At least 1,000 visitors were expected to bunk down in the hamlet overnight before the Thursday funerals, filling floor space in the 30 or so homes or sleeping in tents they brought with them. At least one cow was slaughtered to help feed the masses, and the few dozen Mexican soldiers guarding the entrance to La Mora.

2008..

FYI

Polygamists from Texas Unwelcome in Mexico Mormon Community

Colonia LeBaron, Mexico — Nestled in the foothills of Chihuahua's Sierra Tarahumara, a community of breakaway Mormons is worried that polygamists from the sect in Eldorado, Texas, will seek refuge here — much as the founders did when they fled Utah beginning in the 1890s.

The community has worked hard for generations to gain acceptance here.

Though polygamy is outlawed in Mexico — just as in the U.S. — about 15 percent of the community still maintains polygamous relationships, with men getting around the law by taking on what they term “spiritual wives.”

Even so, their message to those wanting to seek legal refuge in Mexico is clear: Don't even think about moving here.

“The last thing we need here are a bunch of outlaws,” said Lillian Tucker, 40, a mother of 18 who practices polygamy, but is against forcing minors into marriage. “I don't recommend anyone that's committing a crime or that's using religion to become a pedophile to come down here, because they're not going to be welcome.”

NXIVM has very deep ties in Mexico. Emiliano Salinas, son of the former President of Mexico -- Carlos Salinas, is a member of NXIVM in the highest ranks. It's been reported that when Raniere was arrested, Emiiano was going to be arrested soon thereafter, but that the Clintons intervened. Soon thereafter, Salinas reportedly fled to Cuba, then to the UK, then to Brazil. Haven't read any recent reports of his whereabouts.

I was searching for Mormon Mafia in Mexico....

Found Romney....

Anon

Three dozen of Mitt Romney’s relatives live here in a narrow river valley at the foot of the western Sierra Madre mountains, surrounded by peach groves, apple orchards and some of the baddest, most fearsome drug gangsters and kidnappers in all of northern Mexico.

Like Mitt, the Mexican Romneys are descendants of Miles Park Romney, who came to the Chihuahua desert in 1885 seeking refuge from U.S. anti-polygamy laws. He had four wives and 30 children, and on the rocky banks of the Piedras Verdes River, he and his fellow Mormon pioneers carved out a prosperous settlement beyond the reach of U.S. federal marshals. He was Mitt’s great-grandfather.

Gaskell Romney, Mitt’s grandfather, settled in Mexico as well, and Mitt’s father, George Romney, was born in nearby Colonia Dublan — raising the possibility of a 2012 presidential race between two contenders whose fathers were born outside the United States.
