I guess I want the choice.
I am glad to be rural, at least we will get it last. If it really does suck for humans, maybe they won't put it in at all?
A girl can dream...

Unfortunately that's not true.

A little birdy told me they are already rolling it out in rural areas in Oklahoma.

There is still an advantage to rural living though: farther away from neighbors' WIFI routers.

But another disadvantage(at least in Oklahoma):

After I complained about my dad's smart meter stroke, our utilities turned down the power on the smart meters in the cities from over 200000 microwatts to 47.

They had them on full power until the manslaughter complaint.

Still on full power in the country. Last I checked.

(For the range, they have to)

If people would get off the damn Microsoft, nobody would complain about speed, ever. One of these days, I'm going to stopwatch the time difference between DH's Lenovo and my old, dysfunctional, hacked MBP.
It's minutes, not seconds.

Tips for rural folk:

What's likely to happen now, is everybody who lives with neighbors who are complaining about their poor cell phone reception will get 5G installed first.

Because Trump just signed a spending bill last fall to porkorama 5G. So we can get sick before the Chinese do.

It's a competition!

5G frequencies don't penetrate walls as well as lower frequencies. So what's going to happen is your telecom company is going to HIDE 5g transcievers in your modem, and they may hide WIFI transcievers in there too to blast your network out the house to the 5G boxes.

1)Steel building.
2)Put the modem outside in another building, run ethernet cable from that into your new steel house.

When cox hid a zigbee in my modem to backhaul smart grid data, I moved it to my doghouse.

After it made me sick, and stuffing it in a microwave oven didn't work....

(because the towers were aiming at it....)

It looks like 5G won't be fully implemented until sometime in 2020 when all the phases of the repack are finished. All your digital TV stations are having to give up some of their higher frequencies and go down into the lower end. But one station is going off its' frequency and another station is going to that station that's going to a higher frequency. Why not stay where they are? Something I'm not understanding here...and all this was to start way back in 2009 for the transition to digital, but 2012 CONgress authorized an auction for the 5G low band...and there was an auction back before the transition that paid for the $40 converter boxes they were giving away. 5G is going 500MHz I think for low band and 600MHz mics are being phased out for other wireless service. And then there was the lightspeed internet that was going to override the GPS frequencies.

Enough of the 5G Hype
By Ernesto Falcon
February 11, 2019

Wireless carriers are working hard to talk up 5G (Fifth Generation) wireless as the future of broadband. But don’t be fooled—they are only trying to focus our attention on 5G to try to distract us from their willful failure to invest in a proven ultrafast option for many Americans: fiber to the home, or FTTH.
A recent FCC report on competition found that the future of high-speed broadband for most Americans will be a cable monopoly. Without a plan to promote fiber to the home, that’s not likely to change. In fact, because the 5G upgrade relies on fiber infrastructure, even 5G will be possibly limited to areas that already have FTTH – meaning, they already have a competitive landscape and, therefore, better service. The rest of us get monopolistic slow lanes.

Regulators and policymakers focusing only on 5G wireless are setting us up to fail. Only aggressive promotion of competitive high-speed wireline infrastructure can ensure that the 68 million Americans that currently have access to only one high-speed ISP will have options (and, in turn, the ability to vote with their wallets if service is slow), and that the 19 million Americans with no access at all can leapfrog into the 21st century of broadband access.

So here’s a better idea: ignore the 5G hype and focus instead on why large corporations such as Google, AT&T, and Verizon are content with abandoning fiber to the home.
Let’s break it down.

What Will 5G Do?

That's the limit of what I can share fair use.

But I can tell you what's in the rest of it in my own words.

5g won't work inside buildings unless telecoms sneak MORE transceivers into the buildings.

I'm not letting any of those into my building.

Oh boy! For the KC area folks:

Sprint announces when 5G will come to Kansas City. Here’s what you need to know-
"5G will impact so much more than your phone
Kansas City is just three months away from getting Sprint 5G, according to an announcement Monday from CEO Michel Combes at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
.......Once all nine of its first markets launch, Tovar said 5G will cover about 1,000 square miles......"

I had to do a browser keyword search.
