House fails to override POTUS veto of bill blocking emergency border declaration; Pentagon shifts $1 billion for wall
https://thenationalsentinel.com/2019/03/...-for-wall/

On Wednesday, the House failed to override his veto on a vote of 248 in favor with 181 against, failing to reach the necessary two-thirds threshold required by the Constitution (14 Republicans voted with all Democrats).

Most political analysts projected that the Senate could not achieve a two-thirds majority to override either.

the Pentagon has received its marching orders from the Commander-in-Chief, transferring $1 billion from various accounts to the Department of Homeland Security so construction on 57 miles of new 18-foot border wall can begin.

“We strongly object to both the substance of the funding transfer, and to the Department implementing the transfer without seeking the approval of the congressional defense committees and in violation of provisions in the defense appropriation itself. As a result, we have serious concerns that the Department has allowed political interference and pet projects to come ahead of many near-term, critical readiness issues facing our military.”
-The Democrats

10 U.S.C. § 284(b)(7) gives the Department of Defense the authority to construct roads and fences and to install lighting to block drug-smuggling corridors across international boundaries of the United States in support of counter-narcotic activities of Federal law enforcement agencies.

1,000,000,000/57 = 17,543,859.65 per mile.

I hope Donald holds that bullshit up to the light of day.

Easy to see who the traitors are. Fourteen of them at least.

Listen, as long as he gets most of the things he promised done I am fine. It may not be exactly what you or I want but so far it is way better than what we had before.

I am pretty happy so far.
They are calling it a wall, but you can bet it will take more than just the wall and that will add to the cost and maintenance, so this might be a valid number, what is cheaper a wall or a dirty bomb in a few big cities and worthless land for thousands of years
Maybe they need to tax the money leaving our country for a start ??

If you could get your cost down to $500,000 / mile a billion gets you all the fence you need.

It just shows how shitty and rotten our government is. Both the assholes who won't try to stop the invasion, and the corrupt fuckers telling us a mile of fence costs 17.5Milloin. No doubt there is a Mexican contractor who would make his life's nut taking that billion.
