The key wording is 'up to one week', which means that it doesn't have to take an entire week, but cannot exceed one week. Something else significant is that McConnell adjourned the Senate until 3:00 PM on Monday. Why 3:00???
It takes four votes for a Nominee to be confirmed.
1) An vote by the Justice Committee to recommend sending the nominee's name to the 'Senate Floor', which has happened.
2) A vote by the Senate to accept the Committee's recommendation (which allows debate), which has already happened.
3) A vote for Closure (which ends the debate about the Nominee), which is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
4) A vote to confirm the nominee, which by tradition must occur at least one day after Closure.
The day after Confirmation by the Senate (by tradition), the Nominee is sworn in as a Justice on the Supreme Court.
If the Senate will be adjourned until 3:00 pm on Monday, and the vote to end debate is scheduled for Monday afternoon, that means there will be no time debate, much less for delays by the Democrats. The unknown is IF THE FBI WILL COMPLETE ITS INVESTIGATION BEFORE 3:00 PM. If they keep THIS investigation very narrow, focused on Kavanaugh like the Dems want, it CAN easily be done over the weekend. I think that is what WILL happen.
What the Dems are NOT expecting is for there to be a second investigation into THE ACCUSERS and their lawyers (especially since Sheila Jackson Lee so sloppily passed that envelope to Broomwitch, which everyone saw).
How interesting, Hickory! Â I hadn't thought of that possible angle.
A quickly concluded investigation/clearing of Kavanaugh would satisfy the requests, and allow confirmation proceedings to continue. Â That would not necessarily preclude ongoing investigation into the Ford side if something is uncovered there via the Kav investigation. Â Sure, the dims would flip completely out, but I don't see how they could *procedurally* obstruct based on that scenario.
If a quick but thorough investigation into only the 'new' allegations regarding Kavanaugh and his possible 'intersections' with Ford revealed nothing bad on Kavanaugh's part, that alone would cast suspicion upon Ford's story and prompt an investigation on that side of the fence. The Ford investigation would not have to take place immediately, nor would Ramirez or Swetnick due to their unfounded allegations. An investigation into the leakers would not have to begin right away, either, but they ALL need to be done.
If the FBI refuse to do that ancillary investigation into the Ford+ cabal, that will be VERY disturbing to me. It will finish off any confidence I might have had that the agency is now headed by a straight shooter. Yeah, Director Wray. I'm talkin' boutchoo.

Snopes is reporting that it was nothing but hand written notes from women outside the hearing room for Dr Ford. Nothing to see here, move along.

.
OH OK Its Snopes so it must be true Its not like shes such a bulwark of honesty. I say get the FBI to request/demand the notes become part of the " NEW " investigation She wants to be involved so lets involve her Of course her defense will its a racist attack on her by the Republicans
I don't trust Snopes. I've found them to be wrong more than once. They also have an obvious political leaning. I once did work for Tick-Tock magazine. I saw first hand, stories messaged or go unreported where their advertisers were involved. Snopes is currently in financial trouble. They need money badly. Where are donations coming from?

OK, "We had the votes" means Flake's theatrics were not necessary? Â That nobody had to cave to the extra investigation demands? Â
Kels,
What Flake did was fall on his own petard and made a ploy with the extra FBI Probe to get the Dems back into committee for the vote ~ they had been planning to DENY Grassley a quorum.
They thought they were voting on the 7th FBI Probe ~ they voted NO on the nominee, the ayes carried the vote, KevKav was forwarded to the senate floor and the Grassley banged the gavel, adjourned the meeting on the 2 hour rule.
Had Flake NOT done that, KevKav would NOT have received the committee vote to the floor. Â (Although, C. Thomas did not and he went to the floor.)

In the original drop was a second photo (afcaf108fd46717⋯.png ) which was hidden. I was going back to /pf/ to copy the tag of this second (first?) photo when it disappeared. All that is left is the above abbreviated tag above. I was hoping it would produce an explanation about the plane, but I have no way to find it now.
Is "[des_TFC]381" a communication frequency (band)?

I believe your right on target go back and look at the pic of him being berated by the Dems The look on his face speaks volumes just like as you said fell on his own petard
