I've just got home. The bloody taxi was hit by a truck.
Cops wouldn't let anyone leave the scene until a whambulance was called and had everyone checked out. The 2 drivers were in shock.
After I told them that I was fine, they still wouldn't let me go before I gave a statement - and I couldn't give a statement until I had been breathalysed. I then waited for ages and I told them that I was the passenger in the taxi and that If they didn't get their finger out I was going home. I'd been there for over an hour by then.
He then threatened to arrest me for non-cooperation and obstruction. I insisted that he did and said that I hoped that he had enjoyed his career.
He then arrested me and put me in the back of his car - where at least it was warm.
His colleague came to speak to me and I explained that what had happened and that I wanted to press charges for wrongful arrest. He sighed and walked off.
The Sgt then came over, who was human, and after going through things he agreed that they had been out of line and I was perfectly within my rights to press charges.
I told him that I just wanted to go home and that I'd been there for over an hour and a half by then and they would not take a statement and let me go. He then took my statement in 2 minutes and said that he would give me a lift home. Before he did he ripped the other two to bits who then came over to apologise profusely and thanked me for not pressing charges.
It was a shame as I have a lot of time for the police.
