Don’t be an idiot! The government is NOT going to be the neutral arbiters of the internet and the big tech companies are NOT monopolies unless YOU forfeit your responsibility and use their controlled platforms. The answers to the social media crackdown are already here and it is your choice whether the alternatives that already exist thrive or die. It’s up to you. Choose wisely.

The guy is sharp as a tack. I wonder if we could invite him here as a repeat contributor?
It'd be helpful to have a sticky thread listing all the alternatives.

Unfortunately due to the limitations of using a library computer, I'm going to have to stick with what's pre-loaded on here to get much done.

I suppose I could start with open tabs for duckduckgo, the youtube alternative, and a few others, then tab over to them as needed,

But a lot of times when I step away for a smoke, little kids reboot my locked down computer so they can steal it.

Chuckle
I am trying twitch out, so I can listen to dutchsinse. I would never have bothered, but the tube is being an ass lately. Yes, new platform, new learning curve, but this is how you work around it.
PPR.
The problem is that existing alternative platforms don't seem to be sustainable. Maybe they would be if major users would join but until then we're stuck. I don't believe for a second though that these places should be government regulated.
This might be the most important video posted this year!

Run, don't walk! Run away from Facebook, YouTube,  and Twitter!  Don't go there.  You'll be okay.

They are not limited by the 1st amendment.  They shouldn't be.  Your response should be to leave them.  Do it.  Do it today.

I've been preaching this all week.  Tell your friends to leave there too. We don't need them.
I agree to some extent.

How much government money went to these companies, if they took any gov money then they should be considered a public utility.
