I have a framed print hanging in my house which reads:

“You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be -
I have a mother who read to me.”
― Strickland W. Gillilan

And technology is not in the same league as curling up in a comfy chair with a good book.  imho  lol.

I had suggested Jeanette Oke as a good place to find books for your granddaughter.
I can also suggest a couple dozen or so other authors, so if you want I will find a list of those and get that to you.   Yeah3

We are making our way though a book or ten of good reads you suggested ... and we are Both enjoying the experience and she is (we are) expanding our Reading from books out to getting her younger Niece and Nephew involved in reading... poppa is the old dude in this picture ... Morgie wanted her hair cut to match poppa having to grow his hair back ( just on the sides fer her) and her nephew Gage at 4 years decided he wanted a hair cut also to match, so he is Mohawk style ... little Cassy is 3 and her curls are best left the way they are...

It isn't everyday that i get to spend time with these young'ins ... they seem to enjoy it and keep bringing me books to read ... I am having a wonderful holiday with them ... tomorrow we all head off to the science  museum and we take 9 of Morgie's school buds with us ...  imagine that an old prospector such as me driving a mini bus all the way across Winnipeg... lol I did put a lot of rocks in the bus that are sure to trigger questions along the way... Cheers thanks and may you have a great wonderful holiday and a awesome new year  Heartflowers  Heartflowers

Dem three are like leaches ... but they seek good rather than bad ... i got them making things in the living room and knowing that this is poppa's doing with mama biting her tongue... Chuckle god only knows where that will end up...
Jeez, Louise, I need a break. How about a camp fire by the lake?

Lovable leaches of course. Chuckle
They are at the best ages for grandparents to enjoy!
Soon they will be teens, and things change, so savor these years with a passion.

I'm reading a very intriguing book. Not sure yet whether to recommend it for your granddaughter -- I'm just about a third through it. I'll keep you posted. ("The Ghost of Squire House" by Joanne Pence)
So I was in the bath today, and I asked the LORD a question, and he shows me Father Christmas.
